I'm using my 2009 iMac 27 in TDM from my 2015 MacBook Pro 15 and it's great as it sends over the video and the audio. The old iMac has much better sound than the MacBook Pro. You can sometimes find 2009 - 2011 iMac 27s for really cheap $100 - $200 on Craigslist and these can make for good monitors or even decent computers for light office work. The 2009 iMac 27 with Core 2 Duo is pretty slow but I wanted the display and speakers with better performance and so hooked up my backup laptop to it and it's nice for watching movies and doing office stuff. I use my M1 mini for heavier stuff.

As stated in the posts above,
1) connect one monitor via HDMI cable - done here...
2) connect 2nd monitor wirelessly,
- go to laptop settings , sharing, check screen sharing
- go to iMac,
do one of the following:
  • Connect using the name: Click the Finder icon

in the Dock to open a Finder window. In the Locations section of the sidebar, click Network, double-click the Mac you want to share, then click Share Screen.
If no items appear in the Locations section of the sidebar, hold the pointer over the word Locations, then click Show.
  • Connect using the address: In the Finder, choose Go > Connect to Server, enter the address of the Mac you want to share, then click Connect.
great idea!
I'll try.

It worked but basically now I've got two monitors with same (shared) desktop, while I prefered an extended primary monitor...
How could I solve?
