iPad Mac Remote Access from iPad

I’m thinking about moving to an iPad and desktop setup instead of my current laptop. I use remote desktop to access Windows all the time on my iPad and it works great - I just don’t have any experience with MacOS remote access. What options work well for Mac remote access? Anyone have experience with a good app they can recommend with mouse support?

Jump desktop is what I use mostly. It’s pricey but it had mouse support long before Apple implemented it officially

I've used Screens for this for years. It works well with the trackpad and keyboard on the iPad.

In my opinion, JumpDesktop is the best. It is quick, has an excellent UI, and great developer support.

Another with jump desktop here. I actually did what you’re planning a few years ago. I have a Mac mini and an iPad Pro 12.9. It’s great.

Jumpdesktop is the most complete, lots of options, good framerate, low latency and works with sound. I sometimes use VNC when I don't want to tax the computer I connect to too much, as it takes very little resources, but for a desktop it's not going to be an issue... (VNC has a lower framerate, which is not great, but also very low latency, which is good).

Apple remote desktop is for MAC remote access. Apart from the same, one can also use apps like logmein, R-HUB remote support servers etc. for remotely accessing MAC computers from iPad. These are easy to use and work well.

Splashtop is worth a try as well. I moved to splashtop from TeamViewer and logmein and haven’t looked back. Splashtop supports both Mac and Windows.

I’ve been using Splashtop since many years ago. But they had some compatibility issues with M1 Macs.

I don't have any M1 Macs so wasn't aware of any issues there. Hopefully they will get that ironed out soon. I've been really impressed with this platform and they seem to have very good support, at least in my experience with them.

So if you have a second monitor attached to your Mac, that counts as remote access? It seems that you have a fundamental misunderstanding of what remote access actually is.

I am using sidecar as well on my iPad Pro... I am playing sims 4 on my iPad via sidecar on my Mac mini
