You now have a new option if your willing to pay. Microsoft launched what is known as Windows 365. You have to have a business account with MS, but if you do, it works pretty darn good. I did a video for my channel all about it. Check it out if you get a chance and try the service. Full Windows in the cloud and it runs pretty great on the iPad via the MS RDP App.

I am using sidecar as well on my iPad Pro... I am playing sims 4 on my iPad via sidecar on my Mac mini
I guess you are talking of using sidecar in mirror mode optimized for sidecar, which is like a remote desktop for home use... the big issue I have with sidecar, which by the way I use a lot at my desk (it's actually the only way I now write on my mini, with my iPad pro magic keyboard, I have stopped using a real keyboard), is that it works well at my desk where I have my mouse, but whenever I move to another room I have no touch screen and no trackpad.... only the keyboard and the pencil, which makes it hardly usable.... There is a clear reason why Apple does not want to add touch functionality but man at least the trackpad, I am not even asking for gestures, just the basic trackpad... So as soon as I move to another room I switch to remote desktop....

I currently use Splashtop but I hate that it's a yearly subscription.

Is Jump Desktop a one time purchase? Or is it a subscription based service?

I use Jump Desktop to access both my Mac as well as my Windows environment (within Parallels).

I tried Windows 365 and I still prefer this setup because at least the Windows environment within Parallels can more quickly access files on the Mac side, when needed.

I’m thinking about moving to an iPad and desktop setup instead of my current laptop. I use remote desktop to access Windows all the time on my iPad and it works great - I just don’t have any experience with MacOS remote access. What options work well for Mac remote access? Anyone have experience with a good app they can recommend with mouse support?
iPad has native mouse support.
What specifically do you NEED to access on your mac computer from your iPad?
I would guess that you could modify your workflow to cut out the master completely.

I understand what it Is
Sidecar is strictly a feature that uses iPad as secondary displays. Unlike Duet, iPad touch screen is completely useless in sidecar. Can’t use trackpad built in magic keyboard to move cursor around. I have to use Apple Pencil which is not good experience and constantly encountering misclicks. Keyboard somewhat works but only good for typing. Can’t invoke key combinations using keyboard and can’t navigate around using keyboard either. If this is remote “control”, well……I’d rather call it remote “assistance” with mirrored option. Also, it doesn’t work over the internet.
