We play the real Halo not the demo. (PPC or Universal doesn't matter--they are compatible.)

Plz look at my post regarding xblaze.

@ lancestraz, nice post regarding game date/time. Would you mind if I post the servers I'm usually in? They are dedicated servers open to the public. No problem if I can't.:apple:

What was you name on Halo?

Oh yeah. I was iMacGod. I was making a killing over the weekend. Then I picked it up this afternoon and wasn't doing too hot (too many servers with rockets only or snipers only or no shields). Then came to this server, I did alright. :)

I guess we should make a rule to post IP's now. Searching through the list was kind of painful.

I found it. I was booted into Windows running the PC version of Halo, but could not find the server. Booted back into OSX and ran the UB of MAC Halo and found it easily. I always thought PC and MAC full versions could play together, but it would not show up in my server browser on the PC side, only on the Mac side.

Server is down.
We actually had a decent turnout.

I didn't see your post until it was to late. :(

You know... This is starting to go to my head. :D
Remember, the host always has an advantage. There is no latency to deal with when you are on the host computer.

Are both up to date and the Windows version isn't the CE version, right? They are indeed compatible (hence the 700-1000 servers you will find online) with each other, but like any other game, the version numbers must be the same. (Although the UB version says 2.0.x, they are still equivalent to whatever the most current version of Halo is on Windows).

Quite true. I do remember even LAN matches my friends had disputes about that. Hence anybody with a spare PC that wouldn't mind doing a dedicated host should set it up.

This is probable true. I hope you guys aren't lagging bad!

Wished I was there...:( And I would love to scrim against you Lancestraz. I'm not that good, but love a challenge. How many years have you been playing?
I think I've had Halo for two years now. I suck in single player though. I could barely beat the game on normal difficulty.
I liked playing online better anyway. There are a lot of wicked good people (and cheaters) online so you have to learn to survive.

I experienced SOME lag when I last played Lance, but not much... mostly he's just that good :)

I have a pretty fast internet connection (verizon FiOS), and a pretty fast computer (2.33GHz C2D MBP with 2GB RAM) but I guess it's not fast enough when lots of people join.

Someone else can be server if they want. :)

Nah--lag (which was minor) is not your server's fault. By strictest definition, "lag" doesn't mean a CPU slowdown, it means communications time over the 'net. So lag = high ping, and that's just a factor of your ISP plus the client's ISP.

People do use the term "lag" when complaining about just about any server issue though--including bandwidth being choked, packet loss, and CPU slowdowns--but I didn't notice anything like that.

I'm not talking about lag, I'm talking about the advantage you have when you are playing on the computer that is hosting the game. If you have a ping of 100 when you are connecting to a server(host), this means it takes 100ms for each packet to leave your computer, reach the server(host), and return to your computer(you network gurus correct me if I'm wrong). Even though this does not translate into perceived lag or slowdown, it is a definite advantage for the host.

This is not to take away from Lance's skills, because he would probably still dominate, but it is always best to have a dedicated server(unless it is a LAN game) that is not on the same subnet of any of the players, so that there is at least some level of latency for everyone. :apple:

-All

No lag on my end, Lance killed me in real time.
