Hi All

It is now 12th May at 12 Midday here in the UK and still nothing on the Steam site :(

I have money burning a hole in my pocket here :)

Anybody now what time it will be released ?

My only best guess is that it will release prior to midnight PST. When they unlock games it is typically noon or so PST, I'd guess the same thing here. I mean, they want full staff onboard to ensure smooth launch, right?

Also desperately waiting for Steam, wish there was some sort of a ETA on their site or perhaps some automated email service telling when its available.

Can't wait to play Torchlight. :apple:

You can buy the games now, just go to http://store.steampowered.com/. You can buy Steam games anywhere you have a web browser... you just can't install them until later :D.

Actually I would recommend buying ASAP. There have been times where (due to a massive amount of users) the store goes down. Happens any time theres a good sale on. Happened last week with the Rockstar sale!

Eeeh, I'm in class and constantly refreshing steam and this page, hoping someone will say "IT'S HERE !".

EXCITED !

I thought about doing this as well, but are we 100% positive that ALL games purchased for the PC will be free to download for Mac? (assuming a mac port for that specific game exists)

we are for Valve games, but not for games of third party developers.
Valve does give you the mac version for free, though other developers can choose for themselves

So I can go ahead and buy left 4 dead 2 knowing that it will play when I install steam????

^ this.

And also I would wait until we know when exactly Valves games will become available to Mac. So far it seems that today Portal and Torchlight will be the only games available. Valve runs deals for their games often so I would hold off on TF2 and the L4D games until we know when they come out for Mac since there could be a juicy deal along with it. Engineer Update for TF2 is just around the corner and that means a 'Free Weekend' of TF2 and at the end of the free weekend will be a significant price cut on TF2 for a day or so.

No,
You can buy l4d2 and knowing that you'll be playing when l4d2 is out for mac. Not sure this will be when steam for mac comes out though :( The information is unclear on if l4d will be there today along with the launch of steam for mac.
