I share your thoughts, this is what I have in my cart now.

I was reading into forums that using a 1TB HD (vs. 512GB) will double the transfer speed, due to an improved chip?
I also got the basic one but not 128gb just the 64gb unified memory.
as with my old Mac book pro, I am thinking of returning this Mac Studio (have 2 weeks to do so) and upgrade to a 128gb.
I had to buy it as it came because of waiting times to get a stronger machine and doing an imminent job.

Would you guys say this will make a difference in the near future?
I just don't want to see myself again 2 years down the line with a laggy computer, especially after such an investment.
Thanks

I've been holding out on a new Mac Pro for a decade, still trying to squeeze every last drop out of my maxxed out CMP5,1. I'm finally in a position where I think I can afford a new Mac and am considering a Mac Studio or Mac Pro. I'm using my Mac for home music studio using Ableton Live/Logic Pro. Is my assumption correct in that I wouldn't really benefit from spending an extra $1000 on the 76 core GPU given that i'm not editing video or rendering 3D models, etc? I'm trying to fight the FOMO and need some reassuring that I should spend the $1000 elsewhere, or god forbid keep it off my credit card.

All indications since the release is the GPU speed difference between 60 and 76 is typically less than 10%. They're the exact same processor otherwise, no need to FOMO, just buy more memory.

If you waited this long then just wait until next spring-summer when the M4 Studio will most likely comes out unless you can score a good used deal. Waiting 10 years just to get a computer at MSRP price thats almost 1.5 years old isn't the best play if your trying to get your money's worth.

You make an excellent point! My CMP5,1 and my wallet both thank you!
