I think it is actually one of their more interesting videos. I look forward to comparing the iFixit version. That video is nothing more than YouTube clickbait for MaxTech.
As far as accessing it, based on the video-yes, but probably not for every user. Whether we will see a drive that will fit, that's another question entirely but still doesnt change the fact the OP is accurate. If nothing else, we will see people pull these from other M1 macs that have failed and repurpose them. Whether that will work remains to be seen. It's upgradable but is it user upgradable? I don't think so. I doubt Apple will sell the parts to anyone but an authorized repair facility.

Any time you have to remove an exposed power supply, it’s not user upgradable. You won’t be able to just fit an SSD from another M1. You will need pairing software from Apple. That might be obtainable though. As far as accessing it, based on the video-yes, but probably not for every user. Before people get too excited about repairs and possible replacement of individual parts rather than complete logic boards a la MBP it is probably worth remembering the iMac Pro.
It had socketed NAND, CPU and RAM but if you needed a logic board they would charge for all the socketed components again and expect all the originals back too. My iMac Pro needed 2 logic boards... it gets expensive really fast.
Still, nice to see the Studio built with regular screws and no adhesives or special tools required.
I was going to say something similar as perhaps those ssd empty slots are in all mac studios but only used for the higher SSD spec machines above 2TB maybe..I have the 1 tb and its plenty fast -I saw videos reporting that the 4TB and 8TB options are faster so I'd guess that they are the only ones which have the dual SSD setup.
It is single handedly the most revealing video of the Studio out of all. Because all the rest are just user experiences that even someone posting in this forum can give you. Whereas a legit total teardown is rare and answers a lot of questions.I think it is actually one of their more interesting videos. I look forward to comparing the iFixit version.
Sadly, it's the only one. Hence, the best. That video is nothing more than YouTube clickbait for MaxTech.

iFixit has been awfully quiet now...
Maybe somewhere after 5 years, you'd want to double your ssd space, when same standard ssd id dirt cheap?Excessive adhesives or special tools wouldn't really be conducive to Right to Repair...?
In regards to repair fees (parts charges), $5/month for AppleCare+ is an excellent price for SDD insurance...? Just practice proper back-up procedures...! ;^p
Is MaxTech sponsored by Apple?iFixit isn't sponsored by Apple so it takes time plus money out of pocket.
I’m sure iFixit is on it, LTT said they’ll do a video on it, but have to remember they got their units on Friday and it’s the weekend. I’m sure we’ll get more info next week.Is MaxTech sponsored by Apple?
I'm a bit surprised that so few people are interested if Mac Studio's mass storage is "vendor locked" for ever.
IFixit posted on Friday that they’d started. But they then posted later that they would finish and post their results next week.I’m sure iFixit is on it, LTT said they’ll do a video on it, but have to remember they got their units on Friday and it’s the weekend. MaxTech is clearly not Apple sponsored. They almost never receive review units directly from Apple. For this teardown they ordered minutes after the keynote is finished, and received the "retail unit" as soon as any other customer doing the same thing. Not to mentioned review units must come with NDAs specifically prohibiting disassembly. Is MaxTech sponsored by Apple?

wishful thinking put to rest and out to pastureLuke Miani tried to fiddle with the storage
Edit: Apple ****ed us. It's paired somehow. It even shows up with SOS morse code if you add a second one.
