I connected my iMac to my HDTV and use rca for audio, but the sound is behind the picture. How do I fix that? Also, the picture on the tv is very dark compared to the iMac screen. Do I just need to adjust the TV settings? Thanks
hi, i'm having the same issue. i can see my desktop image but cant see windows or my dock. i dont have the monitor icon in the airport bar. how do i find it?
You are in extended mode not mirroring. You can open a window on you computer then drag it over to your TV or go into your preferences and change to mirroring.
By "behind", you mean that the sound is delayed vs. the video? Sounds like your TV is doing some sort of audio or video processing on the input you're using. Try using a Game Mode if possible. If you're using a mini-jack connection on your iMac, you might want to try plugging in the mini-jack connection half way. You'll get sound from the iMac and the TV at the same time. If the sound isn't in sync, then it's probably something the TV is doing, or you may have a bad cable.
Also, the picture on the tv is very dark compared to the iMac screen. Do I just need to adjust the TV settings? Thanks
You can do it either way. If your TV allows for separate settings for each input, then just do it on the TV. Otherwise, you might want to try the different profiles for your display.
Hopefully someone can help me play a dvd on my tv. I mini dvi to Hdmi cable and then hdmi to tv hdmi cables all connected and all I see is the snow leopard desktop but no icons etc. it wont show any of my computer starting screen (my audio works fine via other cables) Is there a minor setting I am forgetting - please help thanks
Sounds like you have your screens set to "extend" the desktop. If you move your mouse to the right or left, you'll find that you go from one screen to the other.
If you want the menu bar on the TV, you can accomplish this in two ways.
1. Set your screens to "mirror". I can't remember how the buttons are described, but you can change it in System Preferences > Display. Turn off "extend my desktop".
2. Set your TV as the primary display when you're plugged in. This will put the menu bar on the TV and the laptops screen will have nothing. When you disconnect, the laptop will revert back to primary.
