I recently went to the alderwood apple store in washington and spent a lot of time there with the macbook- I also took a lot of pics. I've added my thoughts about the components and performance of the macbook in my review as well.

Ask any questions about the macbook, and I'll try my best to answer them.

In case you were wondering- visiting an apple store is a first for me because I actually live in Vancouver, Canada, and we have no macbooks- let alone apple stores- here.

Great pictures and thanks for the review! But... they're a few typos, I suggest a small proof read ;)

#1 I’ve also bolded all of hte important issues answered in my review. Look out for them.

#2 The back of the macbook- notice the 4 “moles”- those are the rubber pads that people have been raving about- that they’re attached firmly and not easily removable like the old ibooks. (should be ibook's)

# 3 Just dont’ run it right on your crotch. Move it forward a bit on your lap

# 4 my brother was gooing hoo haa all over it- and he doesn’t even like macs. (the added o's could be for effect but just incase!)

Hey mainframe- I did not notice any apparent or obvious whining at all- I assume this whining problem that people have been complaining about is simply the sound of the fan or the hardrive or something when you put your ear right up to the laptop. In that case, my sony laptop whines too :p

And sikkinixx, I'm not sure that I wasn't allowed- I was standing there in all corners taking pictures, moving up close, focusing, retaking, and even shooting a video with my cellie- all until my battery ran out. (there was little battery left to begin with).

Some staff saw me so I don't think I wasn't allowed. Still, it payed off didn't it :D

I go to UBC so I buy all my apple stuff at the bookstore there :D (the macbooks are still not there yet though).

Good review. I can't wait to get to a store to look at one. I'm not sure if Australia has them yet or not.

I'm hanging for an Apple Store in Sydney!!!!

They have them at the AppleCentres. There's one on Clarence St in the city, one on Glebe Point Rd in Glebe, there's one in Balmain I think, Myer and DJ's in the city are also Apple resellers and both have a pretty damned good Apple section.

My local AppleCentre in Wollongong had the 1.83GHz white model on display it's very bloody quick!!

i rang both them and the one on broadway and they both said they are expecting display units this week, with ones to sell in about 2-3 weeks

as for a real actual APPLE shop in sydney - GOD YES....i dont know why they havent yet.
infact im kind of annoyed with steve for excluding us from everything.

its one of the only major cities in the world that doesnt have an apple store

Great write-up!! :)

I read a post from an analyst, who commented on the competitive pricing of the base model white macbook. I also compared it to a few other laptops, and it's indeed very well priced. The Black notebook, just seems a bit pricey relative to the competing laptops.

Curious if others think the black notebook pushes the threshold to much, and is a bit over priced...

Thanks for the great pictures. I need to try to get myself to an Apple store soon to play with one in person. I really want a black one. I need to find a buyer for my iBook G4 first.

Vakej- i'm pretty darn sure apple just wanted to make the black macbook seem "exclusive". So whenever you see someone with a blackbook you know they spent that extra 150- and can afford to spend that extra 150.

I also dislike that- because I actually like white over black. But I don't care what others think about me.. i think.

They let you, you can do anything in an Apple store... except look at porn or go on myspace. :p

Thats funny, because while I was in there, a bunch of girls ran in and started using myspace. :p
