wow, those photos were with your phone? I'm impressed, what i had read pointed that the V3i's camera wasn't too great.. BTW great photo review, very helpful. Now if i can only bum a ride over to Sagemore's Apple store and play with one i'll be all set :)

Thanks for that pictorial and write up. This is the first review I have seen that made me feel like I have first hand knowledge of the Macbook itself. Thanks. It was great.:)

I have returned to Louisiana. When I evacuated, I went to North Louisiana. Then I went to Hammond, Louisiana becuase they advised us to go to school because some schools may not reopen(and this sucked because I just started into a new school). The area where I live did not flood. If the hurricane came 60 miles west, we would've been in the same place the people in the 9th Ward and St. Bernard were in. My house was devastated though. The entire roof came off, and everything in the house was molded. The roof came in in 2 places. We had to gut it, but now we are almost done finishing it:D . But I do not want to live here. No one needs to live in a dump like this. There are people getting murdered every day, but the news will not say anything becuase they want people to move back.

Brian,

Are the keys and the area around the keys white, same as the outer case, or are they greyish? Same question for the touch pad. :)

Hey macdrive, the keys are white, but the area around it isn't. Yes, the white is the same as the outer case.

Hm I was just thinking, I already have an ipod nano- and when I connect it to a mac, will I have to wipe everything off it and reformat?

If I just backup my music and put it on an external hd and put it on my macbook, will it put the music back onto the ipod once I connect it?

thanks for that, most photo reviews seem to ignore the white version.

I'm not 100% clear on the question you're asking, but if you attach a Nano to your new MacBook, then regardless of whether your MacBook and Nano has the same songs or not, your MacBook will probably try refilling your iPod Nano with your library again if your Nano didn't get it's music from your Nano.

If you're asking whether you can move music from your Nano to your MacBook, then my answer is........MacTheRipper is your friend. Download and use it. ;)

Oh, and great review. :) Honestly, I've been trying to find a good, non-stock "real-world" photograph of the black (and white) MacBook, and your black MacBook photos are great because there are quite a few, especially with the lid closed. I could have used some photos of the bottom and sides of the black model, but hey, you gave me better than others. ;)

QUESTION: I don't know if you're familiar with the finish and feel of the PowerBook, but does the black MB feel like the 12" PowerBook? The BlackBook looks so much like a black version of the PowerBook or MBP, that I just want to know if it has the same feel. I haven't touched the BlackBook just yet. I love the look of my 12" PB, and the BlackBook looks more similar to my PB than the white one. I'm not a fan of the look of the white MB. My thesis supervisor just got the white MB, and it didn't get me excited at all. I saw it and my heart didn't skip a beat.

thats awesome guy, great pics! I wish we had some Apple stores here in Vancouver, oh well, Simply Computing and London Drugs will have to do.

Does anyone else not like the black? to me it looks unfinished, like a car without clear coat...

Um, London Drugs - absolutely, yes. These guys actually do know what they're talking about. And of course you can't go wrong with the London Drugs' price protection policy!

Simply Computing, on the other hand - no. These people are crooks. They WILL screw you in order to make a profit. Sure, some people will have had a good experience with Simply Computing, but I know at least a dozen people - and I am not exaggerating that number - who have been burned by these liars.

MacStation is actually pretty good as well - but I prefer the safety of London Drugs. Even The Future Shop is better than Simply Computing (and yes, The Future Shop is now selling Mac hardware).

By the way, The MacStation has already recieved, and sold out, of its first shipment of Macbooks. So yes, Macbooks are now available here in Vancouver.

The first time I saw london drugs when I was in Vancouver I cracked up, seriously what a name for a store.

(by the way i'm experimenting with correct capitalization, i'll see how it goes)

Is simply computing really that bad? What did they do to rip you off?

And yes, london drugs is a funny name- when I was kid I used to make fun of it all the time.

And abstract- you're saying that if i use my existing nano that used to be conencted to my PC, and connect it to a mac, it would have to erase all the music, so i'll have to backup my music off my pc and put it onto the mac to get the same music on the nano if I switch platforms?

I asked this very same question last week - one person said that I would have to reformat my Nano in order to switch it from my Dell desktop PC over to the Macbook (and that I would have to burn my music onto a CD in order to transfer it over); while another person said that that's just a lot of nonsense, and that the Nano will not have to be reconfigured at all.

I'm buying my Macbook this Friday, so I'll find out for myself which one is correct. Only thing is, my PC doesn't have a burner! So I sure hope that I don't have to reconfigure the Nano. I suspect not, actually.

Oh, and what did Simply Computing do? - they sold me a brand new Titanium Powerbook Revision A knowing full well that Revision B Powerbooks, which were significantly upgraded, would arrive in stores the very next day. They were simply getting rid of a computer that they knew they would never be able to sell. Yes it was dishonest, especially when I told the salesperson that I had be saving up to buy the computer for over eighteen months and that four thousand dollars was a really big purchase for me - all she did was smile at me.

If I ever see her in public, so help me god, I'll spit in the bitch's face.

Were you allowed to return the laptop for the new one? Or was there some kind of restriction.

And yea, I'm looking forward to what you find out- becuase I'm sure there's a lot of new switchers with windows-configured ipods.

Hey thanks very much for the detailed pictures........if anything I'm now even more undecided what colour to go for so thanks (I think! :p )

Anyways this post does have a point although its quite hard to describe. I read somewhere, not sure if it was on this forum (bear in mind this person could be mental :D ) but they said the black MacBook made the screen stand out more or something along those lines like the screen being more prominent or better with the black MacBook, based on what you've seen would you consider that total rubbish or some truth to it? If so how much better does it compare to the white one!

Oh and also, sorry kinda new to Apple laptops, but does the white and blacks Apple on the top of the laptop light up or illuminate, or is it just the black one?

Ok sorry if it's a bit confusing, cheers.

The screen is really bright no matter the color of the macbook- but I do agree that the black macbook accentuates the screen more, but thats just a trick of the eye.

Secondly, the apple on both colors of the macbook glow. It just shows up more on the black one.
