What annoys me most of all this is the profiteering cynicism displayed by Apple in these cases: complete silence on the issue. If we knew that updates are around the corner, but won't feature any impressive new technology, we might be entirely content with purchasing the current model at the current price.

I agree some sort of roadmap wouldn't kill them to release. But in every sense, Apple's beancounters WANT us to wait. New model = new sales figures = ROI on all the development costs and new bits under the hood = positive IR in the media = happy shareholders. They never increase their price for the newer product, so technically they're not losing any potential profit, if that makes sense? They figure you'll always buy an MBA if you're in the market for one, so may as well be the new model. Risky strategy though as a lot of people will get fed up waiting and buy into something else instead - a lot of rev.A MBA sales haven't translated into rev.B upgrades for example - a lot have defected to that line on the sales chart labelled "MBP" for example.

13.3" Display without lines
2.13 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo SL9600 CPU
4 GB RAM (or better yet two RAM slots accepting up to 8 GB RAM)
Nvidia 9400m
256 GB SSD (and a universal SATA connector would be great)
New battery technology as introduced in the 17" uMBP
Glass Trackpad?

I would want the Rev. A screen. I will even rip out the old rev A screen to put it on the Rev. C if have to.

Processor and GPU would be nice. 4GB RAM is great for CS 4.

256 GB RAM, yes.

New battery, sure why not.

Glass Trackpad...*uck no.

Also please no black trim around the screen. Do that and it an automatic for a Rev. B.

I didn't like the glass trackpad when I first read about it and didn't like it for the first day I had to use it. I hated not having a separate button. But after a few days with it, I fell in love. It is so smooth which feels better on your skin. It is more accurate, and it's more efficient to have entire trackpad be the button. I really missed it when I moved to the rev B MBA. Also, the large size is much nicer than prior gen MB and MBP - at least the MBA has a large trackpad.

I feel that while it doesn't seem like progress and it takes some getting used to, the glass trackpad is more than a gimmick, it's real innovation.

I really hope the glass trackpad makes it to the rev C. Some think it's too deep to fit into MBA, but if Apple can make an entire MB fit into an MBA case, it can surely fit a glass trackpad into a rev C MBA.

I vote yes for glass trackpad!

I agree on black bezel, but I hope Apple reduces the size of whatever bezel it uses. A display that goes all the way to the edge is the best way to make the bezel a non issue.

You want Apple to go - Hey guys, don't wait up, the new version won't be that great a change?

How many other businesses would do this? Apple has a policy of announcing a product when it's nearly ready, or for release.

I'm in the market for a Thin and Light 13" or Netbook.

If Apple releases a new faster macbook air with 4gb or 8gb ram options..

And man it would be amazing if they figured out how to squeeze in 1 more USB and an Ethernet Port that folds out...

Has to be a way to fold out an ethernet port with flat 8 pin ribbon type cable attached to motherboard connection going to the RJ45 socket 8 pins...

that would be sick.... I would be sold instantly....

I am 100% in agreement .. I had to buy the USB->ethernet adapter for use in the office. I would happily have the unit be tenths of inches thicker to achieve this :)

I'd just get an AirPort Express and plug the office's ethernet into it instead: go wireless around the office!

I'd be violating company security policy by providing a direct wireless path to our office network (which is something I would never unilaterally do -- if the network and network security team were to bless such a configuration .. ). I am not naive enough to believe that even with WPA2 it would be secure .. plus, I sit very close to our information security team ;)

Very true. I wouldn't advise that for most. Maybe the $50 USB/Ethernet is a worthy investment in those situations.

NOT me! :D

- 4GB isn't a big deal with the specs of the MBA and SL will improve on that.
- Glass trackpad & black glass bezel = bad idea (extra weight) so we will not see that!
- Processor and storage are enough compared to the other products in the market which mainly have less powerful processor.

Therefore, I am NOT desperate and don't want a revC and as I said, NO glass anything for sure. They might color the bezel black just to make you happier :D

I think it is interesting that the matt 'upgrade' to the 17" MBP returns the bezel to Aluminium colour. I do prefer the old look, maybe it because I still use my 12" PB and for me that was the perfect laptop...

This is not going to be an enormous jump. Waiting for Nehalem made some sense. This doesn't.

Most other computer business do do this, at the very least for their corporate customers. On my desk I have HP's roadmap for H2 2009 and Q1 2010 and Dell's for the whole of 2009. It's trivial these days.

Besides my number one request: 4GB+ RAM, I would really like a built in 3G modem.

On the current MBA Rev. B can you use a 3G modem and a USB mouse at the same time with a USB hub that's not externally powered?

The glass trackpad feels nicer. I would prefer it.

Well, yeah, the Rev B has been out six months so it's natural to want, wonder about, and speculate, as to what/when we want from the Rev C.
But right now, even though I am also frothing at the mouth for the 'C', I want something else from Apple with regards to the Air.
I want them to pull their heads back out from whatever dark place is currently occupying their collective attention, and fix the damn screens on the Air that is out now.

Why are they getting away with selling Air's, still, six months later, with these frackin' lines???
What is going on?
Enough about the people that got burned with the Rev A, and how Apple apparently learnt it's lesson and released something glorious with the 'B'.

They didn't; people are still, week after week, getting burned with this computer. You got a lines-free Air? Excellent, I'm genuinely made up for you. But there are still folks, every day, paying out a big wad of money for this Mac, and they are getting the finger. Apple should have dealt with this by now, but they haven't.

Whatever any of you do, don't buy a refurbished Air Rev B.

Why do you advise people not buy a refurbished rev B MBA??? Because the display issue? That is way blown out of proportion. I have seen MANY rev B MBAs without lines. I have seen a few with lines, and that sucks, but it isn't all of them and I don't think it's anywhere near what people here make it out to be.

I would advise everyone to wait until June to make sure the rumors are/are not true before buying a rev B. There are too many potential upgrades that will make the MBA a lot nicer, as it should be.

At the same time, I think I will buy a replacement rev B MBA for my stolen rev B if there is no rev C between now and two weeks after WWDC. I guess Apple has released Mac notebook updates the week before WWDC twice. Until then, I am stuck with a unibody MB.

I hate the idea of paying for seven month old technology. I hate the fact that my MBA was stolen. But I am not going to suffer with this damn unibody MB for more than two months even if I end up losing a fortune on a rev B MBA once the rev C MBA is released.

Bottom line is the MBA could be released in its same form factor any day now. But I think an early June update makes sense. Then the rev D would come out Q1 2010. Or, Apple could wait, and we could be using rev B MBA, until early 2010 when Arrandale CPUs are available in its same case. Or Apple could completely modify the MBA and make it thinner (to beat the Adamo). Or Apple could completely stop making the MBA. I think any of these are possibilities.

The RAM should be updated to 4 GB, but I can't see how you could put a RAM slot in there.
Oh wait.. you could do like the alu MBs and have 1 or 2 ram slots that are accessible by taking the bottom cover off.
Or what Apple could do is soldier a 2GB chip and have an empty slot for RAM expansion, PowerBook G4 12" style.
The other thing would be a low power and heat nVidia 9600M GT for the high end model.
I would like the 256 or 512GB SSD in SATA format, or a 7200RPM 1.8" HDD.

One last thing, a bump to the processor speed, maybe a 2.13 Ghz C2D.
