i dont agree with paying around the £1000 mark for an old cpu personally but thats just me.
And I wouldn't have paid £1000 for an Intel GPU.

When your tax is 17.5% soon to be 20% ill start to feel sorry for you
But we are still being ripped off a further £120 on top of that tax btw

here is Anand showing the difference between the C2D ULV and the new i7-640UM which is going to be superseded next yr and the difference is BIG the word "double" is thrown about.
maybe waiting for the Sandy ULV is a good option!
When the sabndybridge comes out u can expect it to be in the top range macbook pro series first not the air, it will slowly filter down the series much like the macbook pro 13 today still using c2d rather than the i5.
Early sample desktop units shows that the sandybridge is 2-3% faster than i7 in most situation expect 1..... starcraft2 boosted a 25% increase.
Since u mention about games quite a few times and seems like u can choke ur macbook pro i think u r going down the wrong path, notebooks no matter how awesome it is will never be able to handle intense graphics unless u want to turn down the details, not to mention osx isnt really that great for gaming. Look at those alienwares laptops that weights 7 kg with dual gpu and overclock i7 parts they still only do a decent job and abttery last less than 2 hrs.... do urself a favour and buy a gaming desktop if u want to game, the air is meant for ppl with the office jobs typing and browsing.
im going to see how cheap i can get one from my mate out in the far east.
im not paying UK prices, it might be worth picking one up for £625 though like the US price until the Sandy ULV arrives.
It can be up to 8.25% depending on the state.
if im going to have to pay through the nose id rather have the latest CPU which is due out early next yr.
anyone else waiting?
Have you considered that there's a chance that the next air will in fact use an AMD processor? Makes a hell of a lot of sense when you think about it. AMD CPU + Graphics. Plus AMD's next gen mobile platform is very power efficient.
Apparently they have been in talks, so you never know. They would keep using Intel CPU's for desktops no doubt.
for the people WHO KEEP SAYING that the US Price doesnt Included tax
I KNOW!
ITS STILL £100 MORE HERE WITH THE TAX!
Here
Total customs value: £630.09
Import duty: £0.00
Import VAT: £110.26
Total import duty & VAT due: £110.26
Total landed cost: £740.35 at USD/GBP exchange rate of 0.6307
ZOMG! Sue Apple due to their unfair pricing system Life isn't always fair, learn to live with it. All Europeans pay more, yet most of us don't complain about it. You can always get a PC if you can't stand Apple's prices
i have a PC and a macbook pro.
doesnt mean i gotta be happy about being shafted.
you are a classic example of a Mac stereotype.
Ignorant to the world of technology and happy to hand over money because mr jobs says so.
Apple have to pay a variety of different fees to sell in the EU than they do in the US.
Get over it.
Lol where did you get this rubbish?
A product imported is subjected to the same fees as any other product.
Some apple products are the US price + VAT but the Air is US Price + VAT + £110.
Just fly to NYC, buy one, and then fly back - it's cheaper (with flight included)!
Well the plan is to get my mate out in Hong Kong to get one for me and ship it in so there is no VAT
Yeah, that could work too.
But I totally agree with you - Apple's prices in the UK (and Europe) are ridiculous. This is why I usually buy the expensive stuff in the US.
Thankfully I'm flying to Detroit in less than 2 weeks, so may buy one then
Well i agree
but apparently there are a ton of people on this forum who would be happy to pay what ever price old Steve Jobbo asks.
Personally i make sure i get the Free ipod Printer and Full Education Discount from my family who are in Uni then sell the ipod and printer on ebay and get the cost right down
I agree. Although I paid Apple's full MSRP price, plus the Oklahoma and OKC 8.375% sales tax, at a nearby Apple Store, I would draw the line short of Apple's inflated European prices, plus 20% VAT. Yikes! The best part is the people who come on here to tell me to stop moaning because they to add an extra 8.5% sales tax!! a WHOLE 8.5%!!!! to some states in America
Hello.... 20% VAT in January in the UK!
so i reserve my rights to moan when apple gouges me for another £100 on top for no other reason than i dont live in the US.

You just contradicted yourself. Should I be surprised after reading your posts in so many threads? NO WAY.
You feel like Apple is shafting you in terms of price.....BUT.....you have a Macbook Pro still. The world is ignorant to technology and will just happily hand over money to Mr. Jobs???......hmm....But you have a Macbook Pro.
Nice way to contradict yourself. . I doubt anyone here will take your posts seriously from now on. Enjoy your new Macbook Air with the double CPU speed (as you've said) next year.
Could be. If I were a European, accustomed to Apple's extra high prices, and desensitized to Europe's extortionate VAT, I might have bought my MBA as early as I did in the US. Makes me glad to live in the US, where taxes certainly aren't low, but they are lower. You were pretty anxious to get an MBA. I'm not convinced that you would have had the willpower to wait.
