I‘d never use trackpad only. In particular with multiple displays attached, the trackpad is nothing but a big PITA
Conversely, I have a trackpad with multiple displays attached and have never found it to be even a teeny tiny PITA.

as others have metnioned: try the trackpad, before dismissing it.

i only need a mouse to edit photos.
My music production tools (aka) Digital Audio Workstation is also slightly better using a mouse, but i can still work pretty nicely with just the trackpad (+ of course a lot of keyboard commands)
otherwise: (Mac) trackpad for life! 💕
(it's not that the Mac trackpad hardware is actually that much more advanced, they "just" made the software gesture recognition work so great, despite the theoretical lack of precision of trackpad hardware)

before i switched to Mac, i also thought that i'd need a numerical keyboard, as i previously had many keyboard shortcuts customized to utilize it on my DAW when i was using Windows laptops with num pads

so i also bought a Bluetooth num pad add-on before my MBP arrived, just to realize later on that i actually never use it, as my new custom KB shortcuts are even better than my previous ones.
Never missed it for a second, though of course there are some other use cases where such a device can indeed make your life a lot easier.

I do need a mouse.

So anyone can be able to recommend a good adapter that has HDMI port, a port for mouse and maybe an RJ45 LAN network port? The network port won’t be as important as I use WiFi but sometimes I do need just to setup a new router.

As for the memory options, I need at least 16gb but still, that adds up over $1,000….😳
This hub looks like it would work well.

Note that with the M2, you "save" a port in that the MagSafe charger has its own connection, while the M1 needs one of the ports to charge. Some hubs have "pass through" charging.
