i calibrate my battery every month, and i did so when i got the computer in may, but i lose about 40% in an hour. coconutbattery told me a few weeks ago my curent battery capacity is 94. it is down to 84 today. anyone else experiencing this?

I've only had mine for about a month, but it's down to 92% capacity already. I called Applecare and asked them what their official rule on battery capacity was (i.e. How low does it have to get and how fast before it's deemed defective?) and, according to the guy I talked to, they don't have a rule. I'm hoping it will "level off" and not dip any further, but I'm not holding my breath.

Mine has dipped 2% in just 4 charges since I've had it! Again, I'm hoping that it levels off pretty soon.
It's possible to have more than the default battery capacity when it comes from the factory. Coconut battery will read the "standard" capacity, and thus read higher when it notices that you have a particuarly good battery. Don't worry though; it will ebb down!

I'm sure those cycles are going to use. You don't need to let the thing just sit there in order to calibrate it. The unnecessary load cycles would be very minimal indeed.Killyp said:

Ugly of course. What is with PC companies and their "lets put everything in a bulge, behind a door, or sticking out" design mentality.
98% after four months and 85 load cycles. My old iBook G4 had over 400 load cycles on it when sold, it was still at 92%.
Adding as much ram as possible really reduces the strain on the battery. That and giving it a constant workout.

My 3+ year old Titanium PowerBook is at 93% of its original capacity (3944 mAh from 4200 mAh) after 182 load cycles in 38 months.
I'm pretty happy about that.

Acer is the 3rd top laptop manufacturer in the world.
My original MBP battery is still at 99% capacity (bought may 7th). It was one of the recalled batteries, so I got another through the exchange... the new one is down to 97% after a week. I'm undecided now whether to just send the old one back, or send the new one back
Macbook is a little less than a month old and according to coconut it is 98% of the original battery life (5117mAh out of 5200mAh) with 19 cycles on it.
