There been a bunch of Macbook case posts, but can people post pictures of cases they actually use now not pictures from the website. Most of them are not out yet.

Also whats the brand that drops a ball on the case with glass in it.

Buy Neoprene Online, Make Your Own!

Just wanted to let everyone out there know that you can buy Neoprene online from Rockywoods Outdoor Fabric at:

http://www.rockywoods.com/neoprenes_main.htm

They offer it in small amounts with very reasonable pricing!

I decided to make my own case for my new 13.3 Macbook and I am extrememly happy with my decision:
all fabric case, fits perfectly, no zipper to worry about scratching and incredibly compact!

Not to mention that, in the end, I saved a good deal of money.

Amazing. I wish I knew how to do that. How long did it take you? How much did the fabric cost you? Do you think it is secure enough?

Thanks

Very nice you should sell those. but i guess when they get popular you got to raise the prices too lol

what neoprene did you order? I wonder if the 7mm would be too thick to be useable? What about their other items below? They have something called polartec that is "breatheable" maybe that would let some of the heat out if you made a stay in case? I also wonder about that stuff at the very bottom.

Make your own, its the way to go.

The Neoprene I used was the 4mm. I definately think 7 would be to thick, though I did think about it at the time of perchase. Anything thicker than the 4 would be really hard to work with.

It was really simple to make, if you have a sewing machine.
I think after shipping the cost was 17.00...still cheap enough to be worth doing. it only took me an hour and a half to make.

Its very secure because I made four rounded corners that hug my macbook well...but the neoprene is still nice and flexible, i can get my macbook out through the slightly smaller slit. the remaining flap folds in really easily, but it goes just deep enough to keep everything covered. No zippers means no scratches! :)

I'm using a Tucano second skin. Picked it up while I was buying a wireless access point. It's meant for a normal 14.2" (I think, but it's not meant for 13" wide, that's for sure) laptop, so it's slightly tight fit sideways (but it does make it feel more secure) and slightly loose the other way. Still, I'm very happy with it. Makes me more confident to move it longer distances in a bag.

For my daughter, the case must be "always on" and include a handle

I can't imagine buying a sleeve that has no handle. It sounds like an invitation to drop it one day.

My daughter goes off to college in a month. I want her to consider only handled cases that "live" on the Macbook. Otherwise, I can see what will happen: She'll carry the MacBook between her dorm room and the lounge "just this once" without the case, and it will fall.

I'm steering her toward three such cases by RadTech. Two won't be available till the end of August.

From a girl who finished college in 2004: Laptops live on desks most of the time. Unless your leaving the building, and even then maybe, kids don't tend to pack up their laptops. I would be surprised if she took the time to pack it up just to go to the lounge on her hall or in the dorm. Hate to say it, but chances are slim. Better chance the easier it is to pack. I rarely ever used my "computer bag" for my laptop in school. Most of us just threw them into our messenger bags. Unless your having her sign a contract, :)) ) I'd get her a sleave and a good messenger bag that has a space holder for a laptop. Best way to encourage easy protection! Good Luck to Her! And if its any consolation, I never droped mine once. Of course, I did pay for 3/4 of it! :D

I travel a lot so I have a Booq BP3 backpack and the Booq vyper sleeve for my MacBook. I carry my iPod, camera, mobile, chargers, books, etc, etc...

Just to let people know about the Zeroshock case from Shinza.com. It gets really hard in the winter. The cold takes away the absorption.

Acehigh,

I really liked that messenger! Looks sweet, but I couldnt find that color at tumi.com sale, theres only 2 ugly colors (blue and green).

I will check at my local store.

Hey,

I just picked up a tom bihn brain cell for my macbook (size 6). I must say that I am extremely impressed with this case. The protection seems more than adequate and it is very well made. When I first opened the box I didnt think that my laptop would fit as the bag looked too small. But I can assure that then laptop fits snuggly in the compartment and there are not gaps or extra room for play. I will be using it with a bike messenger bag from Mountain Equipment Coop (retailer in Canada). I looked at sleeves but felt that they would only protect the laptop from cosmetic damage and I needed something to protect my computer from binders and textbooks carry on a regular basis. This case come highly recommended!

Here are some pictures

I got it at Tumi, but got lucky. But you can try your Major Dept stores and say its 69 on the site they might reduce it.

i dont have a macbook, but i use the incase neoprene sleeve ( which is ok, only there is some slack for my PB, but man that shinza one is tempting ) and i have it inside of an old leather satchel i got my hands on. it has pockets for everything, and looks rather stylish.
