I understand it is the same fabric they use on the Surface Pro keyboards, right? I'm not sure how long those keyboards have been available - what do they look like after a few years?

There was a video on YT, can't remember, but they showed different Surface Pro keyboards after a year of use and some were perfect while others had these dark patches where palms rest. So, it's hard to say, and it seems to depend on the user.

SWEATGATE!

But yeah, interesting. If it was your main computer, then yes, it'll get more wear and it'll get dirtier. But if it isn't, it'll last longer. Which sounds obvious, but probably an important thing to bear in mind. My primary computer is a desktop and will be for the foreseeable future, so I think I'll be okay. But of course I still want to see one these things in person!

Your alcantara keyboard after a few months of use.

I had a Surface Pro for a year or so, and my keyboard held up great, nothing like that and the SP was used by my kids as well as myself. While I do have concerns about the wear and tear on the surface laptop. On the SP I had no issues.

That's just kinda nasty, isn't it. I wonder if Scotchguard would help?

Does the SP use that same Alcantara material? Or is it different from what has been pictured above?

My surface pro 3 keyboard has held up really well too... but it isn't alcantara. It's covered in whatever the normal type keyboards are made of. Yours?

There are two keyboard covers. One is alcantara, which is the pic I posted, and the others are some other soft kind of rubber or something.. so they are going to wear differently.
