If they do charge you a restocking fee just dispute it with your credit card company. I did that and made a case that thousands and thousands of customers are complaining about the same issues and that it's all over the Apple tech support forum. Had no problem getting the money back.

Apple should not charge restocking fees when the computer they sold you was defective. Stand up to them and don't rest until you're satisfied!

i have the moofix widget and it worked at first but then then next day it started mooing again :( now sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt....weird huh? but I know why the moo happens....it depends on the brand of the fan inside. someone here created a thread and said that there are two different brands of fan's that are installed into macbooks. one brand makes the moo and the other doesnt (he even swapped the fans out to prove that the moo does depend on the brand of fan). but i expect there to be a firmware fix just like the MBP....but it's long overdue....

Do you have a link to that thread? Also can you buy this other fan anywhere, doing a fan swap would be well worth it.

The best fix for the mooing is to turn off your MacBook. Remove the battery. And then hold the power button for 5 seconds. Pop the batter back in, turn it back on and you're good to go. All it does is reset your Macs power mangement unit, but it works. In fact, my Mac used to idle at around 55-60 and now it idles at 40-50. Perfect.

I just bought a Macbook less than a week ago and it is mooing. I am doing light to medium work loads (mainly light) and it still moo's. It is a quiet moo but none the less at night when I am working and it is quiet, I want to throw the thing out of the window.....IT IS SO ANNOYING!!!! It doesn't stop either. It will do 50 moo's in a row. I don't know why it is doing this.

I know there are other threads and I have done my best to read them and try and fix the problem. I'm just pissed. Less than a week old $1500 and I can't get a computer that works correctly. Will Apple fix this? Will Apple give me a new one? Will Apple let me exchange this one? What are my options. I am so upset about this.

By the way, when I first opeend the Macbook there was a pen mark on the outer case of the Macbook (by the glowing apple). I tried to wipe it off with a damp towel and with my tshirt. I assumed it was a scratch and drove back to the apple store. The guy brought it into the back and came back and told me it was a pen mark they had just wiped it off. HAHA I tried really freaking hard to wipe this mark off. So much that I thought it was an actual scratch.....They "buffed" it out in the back and handed it back like this was normal.

I happily took it back and just thought, no big deal at least I have it and it works fine. So, now that it is doing this....I'm just fed up. I'm fine if they can fix it but even then I'm upset that they are shipping and selling these computers when they don't work properly.

Alright, So, what do I do? Please help. I don't want them to think I want a new computer but I want one that works properly....what to do what to do....

Thanks guys and girls

Ok this is what i would do if i was in your situation. I would take it back, get my money and try and get them to wave the restocking fee. Then i would sit on my money until the next revision of the macbook comes out. Just wait, they will get this fixed. Whenever a new laptop comes out theres always some sort of issue. They almost always get the bugs worked out later in the product line. This should be a lesson to you on why you dont buy revision A apple notebooks. Some are perfect sure, but do you really want to waste your time going back and forth to the store, paying restocking fees and blah blah. Like i said, just go get your money back and wait. ;)

That's what apple tried to get me to do when I first called them, didn't do a damn thing.

EDIT: Just for kicks I did it again. It was idling at 62 when I shut down and now its idling at 62, so no effect.
