I ended up selling the MacBook and kept the 12.9 M1 Pro. Just got the MKB, in white a few days ago, open box from Best Buy. So far? Love it. Works great for what I need it for.

Honestly, I’ll either do one of two things later this year. Get the iPhone 13 Pro Max, or the new iPad Mini and just keep the 12.9” sitting on the desk in the office. But we’ll see :)
A bit old post, but Im glad it worked out this well for you!

Certainly make sure to take your time to compare Pro Max vs iPad Mini to see which ones gonna be more handy for you as to avoid phone-tablet overlapping of roles.

I kind of love my M1 12.9 iPP, wish it could run macOS apps, bought M1 MBA to test it out and Im sending Macbook back after one day, just not "my" device(unattractive price/performace - too expensive where I live as well as outdated fat borders around the screen made it feel like Im over paying for 8/256 some good 350-400$), tho I still "want/need" some sort of transitional/temporary laptop for occasional work from home and/or learning tasks(nothing too taxing for a laptop and not that often at the moment either) and since most of it can be done on Win/Linux, I got myself bargain(for local prices that is, not US prices lol) ThinkPad E14 G2 :D

I have both M1 MBA and 12.9 M1 w/MKB. At this point not really sure why I have the iPad. I guess there was a hole burning in my pocket and I wanted to try it out.

macOS is still just infintiely more useful even in light tasks. Multitasking is just so much better.

I mean it all boils down to what you get used to and your needs I guess. You could make the iPad work and it's a joy to use sometimes, but it's ultimately full of compromises unless you really need the Pencil.

I'll still keep it because I don't need to sell...but it isn't seeing much use right now (I thought I'd use the Pencil more). The MBA handles the light tasks I need very well and efficiently and I would still prefer a gaming laptop on the go since I don't want to bring multiple devices and I like to game.

Apple’s Music app is just a gateway tool for Apple Music streaming service and doesn’t play nice with my masssive non-iTunes music library. There are other legal music stores out there and lots of music that you can’t buy on iTunes.
Can’t agree more. Now that I’m in Monterey I just realise iTunes library is incompatible with music App Library, so managing them between macOS and windows become a bit of tricky now.
The thing here is I would actually advise people to use the cloud and to keep everything in the cloud.
I use cloud, OneDrive for business (iCloud GTFO). And it is convenient a lot of the time, such as doing light field works while also accessing important files. However, cloud relies on internet, and I can’t guarantee uninterrupted internet connection (underground car park, some rooms deep inside a building etc). Because of this, I still prefer a hybrid approach and gain access both to local files and to the cloud so I get benefits of both worlds. I got my 512GB iPad Pro cause I keep micromanaging 256GB iPad storage between games, movies, music, app data, system files and so on.
