I believe that the 2016 model is the better value, but please note that the 2015 models allows you to upgrade the SSD yourself. I would never buy a notebook with only 256GB fixed SSD, especially if money is important and the notebook will be used for several years. I still have a 2013 Macbook Air 11" that I bought with 256GB SSD. I soon found this to be too small and bought a 512GB SSD from eBay. I still use the Air today when travelling light. It survived the Macbook 12" I originally bought (with 512GB SSD) as replacement, but had to sell because the performance was too bad.
