3 years after the transition to intel was complete, Apple dropped support for PowerPC processors. Presumably there would have been an additional 3 years of security updates. If someone bought a PowerPC mac just before the transition there would be a total of 6 years of software support. I have a 2011 MBP (6 years of being able to move to the latest OS and now am looking at end of support later this year (9 years total support). I've been looking at upgrading for awhile but was not going to buy that butterfly keyboard. If someone were to purchase an intel mac now, how many years of total support could one expect? 6? more?
