I keep hearing that BTO (Build to Order) MacBook Pro's are taking up to 2 months to arrive from date of order, is this correct? Something about due to chip shortages....
Configure a system on Apple website and you can get real time info on order status. But the short answer is yes, there is a wait. And many people don't mind waiting even at the present prices. I didn't.

I can confirm. I ordered a maxed out MBP-14 in mid January and it is supposed to be here mid to late March, so there is a 2-month or more wait.

Thanksfully I am fine with what I have for now but I can imagine it would hurt people who really need that BTO unit now.

Yes, I guess. Apple does not have its own stores here, only a distributor/authorised reseller and repair agent. I ordered it from them. The laptop also has an Icelandic keyboard, so I suspect that my computer configuration will be one of a kind in the world (there are only 350,000 of us...not exceedingly likely that someone else will also get a fully maxed out one, given the cost here).

I was able to find my configurations in-stock either at Apple Stores or other Authorized Resellers after looking for a few days. My orders from January were not slated for delivery until April. Keep an eye out--you may be able to find what you're looking for without the wait.

Just an update for people. The reseller told me that Apple had contacted them and said that they are having trouble fulfilling deliveries for the M1 Max models. They said that my computer is scheduled to be mailed on March 13th and arrive in Iceland around a week later. So it looks like it will be a total of four months or so from when I ordered.

Mine was 2 days short of 7 weeks…?just came yesterday.

16” space grey 10/32/16 - 64gb - 2tb

So far seems great no visual flaws that I’ve found yet.
Along with all working fine too (the most important part ?)

Imagine spending Mac Pro prices to wait 2-3 months.

That's why I ordered immediately after launch. It still took me 20 minutes to complete the order. I had the order screen up on two browsers on two separate computers in case one order got lost. I'm happy with my MacBook Pro and not waiting. I thought about upgrading to the M1 MAX but decided I didn't want to wait. If you need one right now, you're in a tough place.

The M1 Max 16" stock model with 32GB and 1TB is back at Amazon for the first time in a long time.

I ordered in December... My delivery window was this week and I just got a message that I wont get it for at least 2 more months... Luckily I just found one on B&H that says it will get here tomorrow so i pulled the trigger... So ridiculous.

Got this one from B&H: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1668323-REG/apple_mbp_16_sg_25_16_2_macbook_pro_with.html

My original order from Apple was the same model, but with the 4TB drive. Right now, B&H only has the 2TB configuration, but I'd rather have that now then wait 2 more months for Apple to catch up on orders.
Just be aware that if you buy your MacBook from B&H (which I love for camera equipment) it's yours, no returns. Any problems are between you and your warranty.

My dad ordered MacBook Pro 16” 2021 for my graduation on March 20, 2022. It arrived on April 19, 2022. The original delivery date was April 28-May 5, 2022. I was enough lucky to get MacBook Pro 2021 with Apple M1 Max and no delays.

My MacBook Pro 16” 2021 specs:
  • Apple M1 Max with 32 GPU core
  • 32GB unified memory
  • 1TB SSD
