I have a MacBook pro 2017. The screen got damaged. So I connected it to my tv via the type c adapter to hdmi. The tv shows blank. Only when the battery is would it show a symbol on the tv. I can turn the caps lock off and on and that's about it. Any help would be appreciated

From the posted details..this model is very likely linked to flex gate. This was a serious design flaw. The screen is damaged and needs to be replaced. If the adapter does not show the same status as the battery then the type c connector or ACE controller chips (cd321*) are not working. You will need a USB c power meter tool to determine what is the voltage and current draw for each port on the logic board. If stuck at 5v, then likely one of the cd321* chips is faulty. Do flip the USB C connector by 180 degrees and insert again. Do this when the adapter is NOT powering the unit. After firmly seated then plug the adapter into the wall.
