p.s. i've also been hit by a car with the bag on my back and the computer was perfectly fine after. :)

Hey guys idk if this is anyones "style" but the http://www.ebags.com/burton/the_white_collection_pack/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=95922
this burtun bag has nice laptop compartmen and a lotta book room it seems

Wow, that bag is almost perfect for me!
I love Shaun White and that pack is definitely my style...
my only problem is that I need a pack for the 17" MBP!
I'm almost tempted to buy it anyways and try to force it in there.

Any thoughts on this? The laptop compartment has a side zipper... so in theory it may work?

Does anyone have this bag that could tell me how snugly the laptop compartment fits the 15" model?

dakine makes some cool backpacks that have notebook sleves, i have been using one for about 2 years now and love it, they take alot of abuse and pad the laptop well. has held up to 2 snowboarding seasons also, so it takes abuse of all types, its also extremely water resistant, as long as you dont submerse it in water your stuff will stay dry.

which laptop/size do you have? I recently ordered a 15" MBP, and i've read that some of the dakine bags (even the ones claiming to hold a 17" laptop) don't fit the 15" MBP. I would just like to be sure before buying one.

yes i posted that burton backpack to and it looks like its got padded side loading computer compartment that looks perfect for 15 inch MBP the main pocket is also decent size i myself am looking at the north face surge

Those with photography equipment may wish to look at the Lowepro Compudaypack. I've seen nothing but good reviews and in Britain there's £20 cashback right now.

I broke down and purchased the Burton White Collection Pack in the color, "rock salt." I had a really hard time deciding between colors, but the details really stand out better on the lighter colored pack.

It really looks like a great bag; thanks so much to the OP for sharing that find.

Now all I have to do is figure out how I'm going to keep it clean and pray that my 17" MBP fits in the laptop compartment. Even if it doesn't, my 15" PowerBook will have a new home (but I will still need a home for the 17").

I will let everyone know how it is once I get my hands on it in about a week.

With a zip on cover, any backpack will do fine. Really.

I like my REI backpack (with laptop sleeve built in) as it has a ton of space and is well built.

We have a number of bags and cases. We've decided that it doesn't matter if you don't drop the damn thing. Don't buy a backpack based on reviews.

Make sure you can put it on your back and see that it fits your physical dimensions.

Oh, and I'm okay with over the shoulder straps (computer only, not with anything else). I HATE messenger bags. Cool looking, not good for carrying weight over long periods of time.
