SF Bags, Muzetto Leather Bag

The only reason I would let go of my SF Waterfield Muzetto bag was to obtain the next larger size. It has lasted extremely well and looks great. It carries my 14" Mac Book Pro and iPad so many places and fits well on aircraft, floorboard, yet best on the seat beside you. A person could never go wrong with this great bag.

Saw this Herchel 14" Anchor sleeve in store and took a chance on it. Didn't specifically mention the 14" Pro but it fits great.

Sorry - late response, but it's still holding up great! There's a layer of extra fabric between the zipper and the laptop that prevents chafing. I typically use the case 2 days a week taking my MBP out.

If anyone is considering a Pelican case for their 16" macbook (or for pre-touch bar 15" machines), here is some info on the 1085cc case.

I have been using the 1085 case (w/ foam) with my 2013 15". With custom foal trimming, the machine fits well. There is 1/2" on either side, and 5/8" on front and back for padding. And of course the hard plastic spreads any impact that might happen.

With my new 16", i opted for the 1085CC case, with laptop specific insert. Pelican specifies this is for the 13" macbook, but that would leave a lot of room for the machine to slide around, not to mention that there is way too much vertical space. If you want a single case to transport 2 13" macbooks at the same time, by all means...

However, the non-touchbar 15" and the new 16" macbooks are a snug fit. (The 15" touchbar machines are a bit smaller, so may wiggle slightly?)

The laptop insert has "nubs" around the edges, which hold it away from the sides. And with the 16" (and pre touch bar 15"), it is a bit of a squeeze to get it inbetween these "nubs". The machine wants to sit on the nubs, but light pressure will seat it down. Once in place, the machine does not move front to back or side to side.

And you can use the machine while it is in the case. The case design does allow air flow around the computer.

The computer is about as thick as half the case, so i used the egg crate foam from my old 1085 case to fill the extra space. The foam fills all the empty space. I can shake the case, but the computer does not move.

If you want to get fancy, you can use the upper foam as dongle storage. The simplest way would be to cut out slots for the dongles to slip into. There is potentially enough space to store a power adapter in the case as well...but doing that might compromise some of the protection. And you would have to leverage your creativity and do something a little different.

Why not buy the 1095 case as Pelican suggests? Because it is too big. The extra space means more protection, but unless you are on safari, it is excessive. The 1085 fits perfectly in a back pack or duffle, and in terms of protection is several orders of magnitude better than all the other cases available.

If you want to try this, buy the 1085CC case (w/ laptop insert) plus the replacement foam kit for the 1085 case. You cannot buy the laptop insert by itself, just FYI.

Some people complain that these cases arent good enough, which is kind of dumb. Yes, they are not made from the same material as traditional Pelican cases...which is heavy. Instead they are made from polycarbonate, which is the stuff used for bullet proof windows. It is arguably a better material. And they do seal very well. After 6 years on the first one, it is still common for me to have to slightly pry it open to break the seal. Not a big deal, just hold the bottom part while lifting the latch.

Anyway, hope that helps someone. I havent found much info on these cases, so im throwing it up somewhere where people can find it.View attachment 884248View attachment 884249View attachment 884250View attachment 884251View attachment 884252
THANK YOU. I made an account just to reply to this message. It is insane to me that there is so little information out there about REALLY protecting the MBP 16" with a hard shell + foam. The 1085 is a perfect size for actual daily use. I've been searching for anyone using it for the 16". Where did you buy yours? It seems Pelican isn't selling them anymore; may need to go used.

Anyone got any suggestions for reasonable cases in the uk that aren’t bank busting? It’s for my MacBook Pro 14 (M4). I’m after something dark rather than transparent, I’ve ordered a dark MacBook Pro and I’ll probably end up with stickers all over the case like my last macbook

Ive used the ICARER Leather MacBook Pro shell before and was very happy with it.

I bought mine from Amazon.
I am sure you can probably find the same one I bought.
It was very cheap ( $14) and it has served me well.

Got a tomtoc sleeve and popped it into the Thule shoulder bag I used for my old SurfaceBook, or into a normal sized shoulder bag.
Works like a champ.

Interesting - my wife's hp notebook came with a pen, two chargers, and a lovely satchel padded case. Even has a slot for a carry in handle, plus a zipper external compartment, plus a separate area inside for the notebook, plus some other places in the other compartment. And its compact too. And the notebook cost under half the cost of my Macbook which was discounted.

For the 16" Macbook I've got a tech21 plastic case that goes on the screen and a separate one for the body. It adds a bit of weight and a bit of bulk to a big computer already. But it does protect. It seems to have openings for cooling air to escape.

If Apple made a case, it could be metal on its body side and cool the notebook. But I reckon Apple likes a user to make a choice, so its the user's fault. Just as it is with iPhones. They make a lot of sales from people not using a protective cover. Apple's alloy also bends. I seem to drop a new Macbook onto a tiled floor within the first two weeks of ownership, so I know they dent and curl at the edges pretty easily ...s

The problem with computer shoulder bags is ... they look like computer shoulder bags. IMO something that goes inside your carry on, and that can also sit on top held by the carry on handle, is the best solution. It gets you through inspections quickly and then you can hide it in your carry on. IMO too one is more likely to forget a separate notebook case ... sounds stupid but in a taxi or bus and things get rushed exiting, I fear I might leave it behind but take the carry on!!

Hi I’m really struggling to find a sleeve for my 14” M3 Mac MacBook Pro. What is the best one money no object that offers good protection?

Honestly, the Tomtoc one that is specifically for the 14 inch MacBook Pro and is sold on Amazon is absolutely perfect for me. I got it in a deal for $20 and it does everything I need it too very well.

Still looking!!!! 👀

Can anyone help me find a case like this for the 14” MacBook Pro

Can’t understand why every case has a metal zip. It’s not needed (hate zips)

These were the absolute BEST. Amazing that no one has made similar since they stopped.
