MacBook Pro Bags, Sleeves, and Cases Thread

I see a lot of people are focussing on sleeves, I don't think I'd like a sleeve tbh but rather a hard shell that opens and closes with the mbp, has anyone seen any nice designs floating about?

My friend has a clear green plastic hard shell thingy which covers the bottom and top but the mbp is completely usable.

I have seen this one but it doesn't look like it would be up to protecting from drops etc much.

I read some mixed reviews including people experiencing overheating and 'burns' on the MBP from it. I'm guessing what they experienced were actually scratches from the dust/dirt getting in between the case and the laptop.

Yeah well i tried by email, phone, site messaging to get ahold of them to possibly send another one out or at the very least send me return shipping. But no answers, so i just sent it back to them and now im out the additional shipping. So basically if i get my refund, im still taking a 25% loss. I don't know about anyone else, but if someone told me these were risks before ordering i prob would have not taken the risk for a company that makes product out of the back room of their house. Eh, live and learn. Back to finding a good sleeve case....

SFbags Waterfield Design are super-meh to me.

Add me to the list of people who REALLY like the SFbag design, but want to hear your better suggestion. So far it appears to be the best one I've seen on here if you can live with a stand-alone case that's larger than a slip.

That's straight up the best looking slip I've seen. I'm tempted to get one of these for day trips, and an Waterfield CitySlicker for anything where I need to carry stuff. Of course that's almost $300 in cases. Ha.

I own one for my 13" MBA. It is definitely very sleek. My only warning is that for certain leather types, it 'bruises' / scratches easily. It is also pretty heavy relative to the Air.

For the Retina, I think I am going with the CitySlicker from SFBags this time. Seems a little more versatile.

If any of you guys haven't had a chance to take a look at Hard Graft, I highly suggest their sleeve and folio case they have for the new rMBP 15. They're very classy and high quality, and as such, cost more than your average case. But, as with the rMBP, you do get what you pay for, as this is an extremely well-made case.

Ordered the Picaso Lab one. That'll be my go-to when going to client meetings or around town. Still mulling over *also* getting a CitySlicker for when I need to travel with accessories. I definitely want something slim that also has accessory pockets. So far really only the City Slicker wins. I need to be able to carry a small Wacom tablet, charger, and SSD external.

I just received my Booq Viper XS3 for my Macbook Pro 13", and it's very nice. I shopped around for a while for a quality sleeve for my Macbook and the Booq's just seemed like the best quality. Yes, they cost a bit more. However, it's a small investment to protect your larger investment. My only gripe is that it's sort of thick, however, it's technically a hardshell case, so it's exspected.

This case is very nice, glade I chose it over a snap on case or skin.

I've used these for about 2 years on my MBP. Kept it in perfect condition. No problem whatsoever. Just remember to take them off once in awhile to clean the dirt and dust and let your mbp breathe.

I'm waiting for them as well for my rMBP.

Whats with the lack of close up pictures at your site above as well as colcasac.

Its as if they dont want you to look to closely. I aint spending $150+ without detailed pictures.

Been using a chrome citizen everyday, on and off my bike for six months now and its brilliant no complaints whatsoever. I pack it to the brim with stuff and there's no sign of wear. They cost a bit more here in the uk but was still well worth it.

Beautiful and elegant design backpack. I own two of these, black and dark grey, and I must say that these are wonderful for my everyday use. They do in fact fit your 15" MBP or retina MBP, just make sure you have a slim case so it won't collide with the zipper of the backpack.

There is also a larger 16" size if you feel this backpack may be a bit too small for you.

Hey check out the link for the chrome messenger again, I was on my phone and their mobile site doesn't have many pictures, I linked you to the full site and they have more close up pictures.

Its basically waterproof because of the truck bed liner that they use on the inside as well as the weatherproof outer material, pretty sure it would hold up better in the rain than the colcasac.
