Who cares what Sony is doing, your comparing apples to the heavenly fruit eaten by the Gods. Were here for one reason; the os. It isnt news that apple is a little behind in terms of hardware. Most of the pc companys have bigger and better things out. With Apple its all about the os, its been that way for years.

True, but before there was always the excuse that PPC was "wAyyyyyyy better" than Intel!

Is it normal for the Macbook to consume quite a bit battery power while in sleep mode (lid closed). I had mine closed with a full battery for 6 hours and now it says battery 66% full ony.

Actually that sounds a bit too much. My 12" PB is down to 80 something after a night.

Got my 1.83 today. Did anyone else realize the battery says Li-ion on it? I thought it was supposed to be Li-Poly?

I actually mentioned it on page one of this thread, and was waiting for a comment from someone about what theirs said. I'm a bit confused as to why this would be...

Report 4:

Well, after using my MacBook for a week now, fully charging and discharging about 3 times, and having enough charge/discharges to have the System Profiler saying I have a 'cycle count' of 9....

It looks like on 'max power saving plus AirPort', I'm going to get somewhere between 3:30 and 4 hours. Right now, I've been running for half an hour, and it says I have 4:00 left. Last night it lasted 3 and a half hours of pretty heavy, but not processor intensive, use after having been asleep for two hours unplugged, but fully charged.

This is all with power on 'Better Battery Life', Bluetooth off, AirPort on, screen brightness on one tick, one processor core turned off (via developer tools' added 'CPU' preference pane.)

Of note is that the System Profiler's 'power' section lists a 'full charge capacity' of 5574 mAh, and it took a few full charge cycles for it to have a 'remaining capacity' of that at full charge. (i.e. the first few recharges, even after a full discharge, then plugged in for 8 hours, it did NOT read 5574, but rather 5027. Now when plugged in long enough, it will read 5574.)

Well, here's a screenshot for y'all...

Yes indeed. This was immediately after removing from wall power (okay, about 10 minutes for the timer to settle down,) with Bluetooth and AirPort off, sound muted, backlight on minimum brightness, (but on,) 'better battery', and one core disabled... I'll do a real-world test of this on Thursday; which will be the next time I'll have an opportunity to use the computer nonstop for 4+ hours without needing AirPort or Bluetooth.
