I have a mid 2009 13inch MacBook Pro as well running 8gb of ram.

So thanks every for all of the above posts as looking at changing the battery and hard drive.

One question. I didn’t think Sierra or above would run on these older models and only El Capitan was the last update to work.
Or by putting an SSD in change things ?

Which model?

El Capitan is last supported version but a 2009 should run Sierra and High Sierra as well with a patched installer, with some caveats. We need to know your exact model though.

The SSD doesn’t enter it but you want SSD anyway, even on El Capitan.
