Just curious, do you guys remove the battery when your laptop is connected to AC power? Virtually all my friends do that, although I've read somewhere else that you might actually be doing more harm than good through that.

Any definitive answers?
I think the only real "harm" I've heard of is the risk that if you become unplugged, or something of that nature, your lappy will immediately shut off (whereas, if you'd had a battery in, it would go to that power source), thus you'd lose whatever you were working on.

as to my battery stats (MB that is 3-4 weeks [since it's been opened, anyway], 7 weeks according to CoconutBattery):
Original Capacity: 5200
Current Capacity: 5011 :(
Battery Loadcycles: 8

I mostly leave my MB plugged in (as you see from the 8 load cycles), and I just calibrated a few days ago. Man, at this rate, my battery'll be dead by the end of the year! heh

I havent really looked at the numbers on my MBP.. but I basically use the machine on battery until it's down to around 10% or so, then plug in. I'll either continue to use whilst plugged in, or suspend it and let it charge, etc.. then use it later... But almost always use it on battery power. I'm not a fan of plugging in when the batt half used, or whatever, I dont know.. hehe

If I'm doing something that needs loads of grunt, I'll plug in.. or if I need full screen brightness for a long period of time, etc.

I took my MBP and a spare battery on a flight from Perth to Hong Kong (7.5hrs) and had no problems, I didnt use the machine the entire flight, but a fair whack of it... worked out well :)

I' showing a steady degredation as well, but much faster than my old TiBook, but some anomalous events have occured recently...the MBP has shut off when the battery is supposed to go to sleep. It's very disconcerting, what if I am doing something that required a save?

(Aside) After 5 months and 123 load cycles, my battery has shown ~4600mAh max capacity via coconutbattery. It's currently showing 5018mAh max while running off the battery.

What do ya'll think?

Coconut is also reporting higher than base battery max for me. I really want to know if this is just a calibration issue or something more serious.
