I hadn't heard any one else say this, but I had wondered about the heating / cooling issue at the bottom of the screen. I don't use it with a monitor. I use it as a regular laptop. The bar though still is warm to the touch. I also only waited to clean the screen after the macbook had been turned off and had a chance to cool, which is what the FAQ section of their website recommends.

When I saw the new Macbook Pro, with the aluminium hinge I wondered if this is one of the reasons it was swapped from plastic.

Ok. Sounds like it is not the issue for you.

I was using mine rather heavily yesterday just before leaving the office. I had it training a deep network which caused the CPUs to run all the cores (15" quad) wide open for 15-20 minutes. When I started packing up I noticed the screen was really warm at the bottom. It did not burn when touched, but it was hot enough to make you pull your hand away quickly.

And I even elevate the unit on a 1/2 thick book to get more air to the intakes on the side and allow more open area at the rear exhaust.

FYI - just got my 2nd screen replacement, again free of charge... MBPr late 2013... However I assume it's only a matter of time before this one starts delaminating as well...

My mother recently had hers replaced under the program (free of charge) by an Apple Authorized Repair Center and it seems they may have used a different screen, because,
1) it has not delaminated
2) the computer no longer has the WiFi flickering bug which happens when on certain channels (which leads me to believe the antenna in it is not the same?...or that the screen is from a different vendor as IIRC several companies produce them?)

Macbook was dropped of at the Walt Whitman NY Apple store on Saturday , they shipped to Texas for repair and returned to me today via Fedex with new screen installed.

Couldn't ask for better service.

Was considering selling for the new 2016 MacBook pro, but seriously thinking of keeping until the 2017 release.

Took my 2015 13" rMBP over to the local Apple store today; I had noticed back in December that it looked as though there was an issue starting with the coating, but I figured that I'd wait until after the holiday season was over and things had slowed down a bit in the store before requesting that they look at it and arrange to repair it. Apparently this repair can also be done in-store so I was told that I should have the machine back in two or three days. I hope that this will take care of the problem for once and for all and that I don't experience the same issue again in a year or so the way others have mentioned.

I thought it would be repaired in the store also, however the fedex tracking was shipped ex Texas. Whatever, it was handled perfectly and I have no complaints.

Well, I was told mine would be repaired at the store. Whatever, wherever, I am just glad to have it all taken care of one way or another.
[doublepost=1487301780][/doublepost] 10:15 PM here...... Wow! Jaw dropping here..... I just got an email from the Apple store that my machine has been repaired and is ready for pickup! Huh? ALREADY??? Now THAT's fast! I think that since the issue had not become severe and was apparently just the external layer of coating that was beginning to peel that they may have quickly and easily been able to fix the problem. I didn't have messy "stains" all over my screen, for example; the issue was confined to the right-hand side starting at the bottom corner and working its way upward. It definitely looked as though the coating was peeling. Probably the repair consisted of removing the old coating and replacing it with new coating, no need to do anything more extensive, no need to replace the entire screen. That's what I am guessing, given the short turn-around! So tomorrow I'll go and retrieve my baby and bring her back home..... And, yes, I'll be keeping an eye on things over the next several months to see if this reoccurs, as I would not be surprised if it does.
