Not pot luck, yet. I mean, truly, it's too soon to tell, but so far in this thread the glossy orders have been the Hitachi perpendicular, and the stock matte's have been linear.
Can anyone sum this up, are we looking for a correlation of hard drive to screen type, and if so, is there an advantage of one hard drive over the other?

Spelling is definitely wrong on that. Some say the perpendicular drive of the hitachi is better than the fujitsu. No real benchmarks yet, so no one can say for sure.

Hitachi Super-Perpendicular Is The Future Fujitsu Linear Is The Past
Perpendicular is the future, Linear is the past. By the end of next year Hitachi will only be making Super-Perpendicular 2.5" HDs.
It's a total crap shoot folks.

I hope the PMR Hitachi's are more reliable than the LMR's of the past, I continue to see these go bad daily... definitely should perform a bit better than the Fujitsu's. Just backup regularly and there is nothing to worry about
