Another dissatisfied user here. The screens on these 2021/23 16" M Pros are definitely poorer quality and much more susceptible to permanent 'dimples' and blemishes than prior models. I've owned many MacBooks over the last two decades, why is that relevant? Because I have experience handling them and their screens, from office environments to AV productions.
I am also extremely obsessive about protecting my tech, I look after stuff because I despise damage on my things, especially expensive tech. Why is that relevant? Because it tells you I'm not the kind ofidiot person who eats his dinner over the laptop and drops crumbs all over the keyboard before closing the lid, or the type of imbecile person who sticks a camera cover on their screen.
I keep a microfibre cloth in my protective macbook sleeve and only ever use it to lightly wipe away dust and prints from the screen from time to time.
My 16" M1 Pro ended up with a peppering of permanent blemishes in the screen, drastically wiping out it's resale value.
Now, my 6 month old 16" M3 Pro, also has a permanent mark in the screen. It appeared from nowhere as a tiny speck which I tried to wipe away but alas it is a perma-dimple, and noticeable while laptop is in use.
Sorry fanboys, it's okay to love Apple products and hold them to account when things are wrong. Why wouldn't you? They recalled and eventually changed their horrendous keyboard and brought back magsafe because they listened. These screens need to be more resilient, there is enough anecdotal evidence out there. People who look after their gear do so because they expect it to last, and nobody should be shafted out of thousands of hard earned money for so called 'premium' products.
