I just got mine back from Apple and no problem so far. Cool thing is they replaced the top plate and screen bezel and I didn't even ask!

Goodbye discoloration I never had.

Good Luck! most reports give about 1-2 weeks before the problem comes back!

I'm just psychic I guess.

The Apple Discussion boards are reporting that it's a problem with the thermositer and lollipop (?) because that is what's coming back on the repair slip. AKA it's not the logicboard causing the issues.

if you followed my story on this thread, i had my mainboard replaced for the 2nd time.
guess what, after using the 2nd new board for about 1 weeks, i thought "this is gonna be OK", today i deliver the white crap (macbook) to the apple service station again! FOR **** SAKE, ITS 3TIMES !!!!!!
AND THEY STILL DOESNT WANT TO REPLACE THAT CRAP WITH THE BRAND NEW ONE!!!!!!!!!!
HOW WILL THE WHITE CRAP OF MINE WILL GET REPLACEMENT? 40TIMES? OR AFTER THE WARRANTY WEARS OFF? THEN I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE FUTURE REPLACEMENT?
IS THIS A LAPTOP? LOOKS LIKE A 13 INCH CRAP WORTH 1200$ TO ME!

the service center is far away from my home, don't forget about the traffic!
thanks apple for making suck product. i want my money back.

Whoa there buddy, no need to vent. I'm sure Apple will take care of it if you're patient. Of course when we pay that kind of money we are expected to NOT be patient. As luck might have it I could be getting my book back as soon as Friday, if they use the overnight shipping and get it repaired today.

Anyway, I'll report my success - if any at all. I did ship it with about 30 pages printed off from the Apple Support forums (I wouldn't enclose printoffs from these forums as they are slightly less reputable). Anyway, hopefully AppleCare fixes my Crapintosh ASAP. It'd be nice to have it over the weekend - but not exactly necessary.

I need a working computer before the 28th though, if it breaks again I'll call about a replacement. I just can't afford being computerless living off campus and everything.

It is disgusting...

It is disgusting...that APPLE has such a seriously bad QC (quality control) installed at the ASUS TEK plant, where they put this junk together. It cannot be, that one has a 30% chance of getting a lemon, when paying good money. These issues surely damage APPLE's good name and reputation. There goes another good name...

Wanted to buy a MBP 17" so badly early 2007, now I am really turned off by mooing, whining, heat issues, the list is much too long..

Maybe the new name should be CRAPPLE:mad:

Or Crapintosh :p

But now my repair tracking says "Pending Return" and "Repair Complete." Let's hope that's the case... I'd hate if nothing was repaired.

That 's funny...

Don't believe what they write on the repair slip... Especially, when there are issues at hand, which could cause a flood of returns... meaning COST, and that's not much liked by the number crunchers:p They are careful not to create a precedent accidentally:D

Best:)

Well I'm getting mine back today according to Fedex so we'll see. The turnaround time was quite fast so they either know what causes the problem or didn't fix a thing (other than future-proofing the plastics against discoloration).

Well, I officially hate fedex now. Why oh why would someone drive 2 and a half hours to deliver a package and leave a note and then drive the 2 and a half hours back? Now I have to take off work tomorrow ALL DAY BECAUSE THE FEDEX SITE IS NEVER RIGHT WITH DELIVERY TIMES. This problem is now costing me approximately $45 of work. I ****ING hate fedex. I'm so mad it's making me nauseous.

Got my book back. Other than a tiny crack above the iSight everything seems ok. Installing 10.4.7 so i can get that SMC update.
