UK keyboard, innit? Check out the £ sign over the number three key where US keyboards have #.

Ah yes :)

Still funny that Apple chooses to make the key layout slightly different :p

Actually its the Uk (Irish) :p Hence I can add all my fada's to gaeilge with alt pressed, but essentially its the uk keyboard.

Doesnt matter now anyway, I cant press any key on my macbook. It's gone back for replacement because it stopped reading optical media altogether..:(

Decided as I have extra memory already, to replace it with a standard black config.

aparently it only works with above 512MB ram, i'm going to order two gig sticks tommorow.

i'm guessing the driver is trying to allocate 128MB vram and vista wont let go of more than about 432MB

Hi hector! i have te same problem when installing the lakeport driver. (macbook 512 ram) did you ordered more ram? does it solved the issue about enabling aero?

yep, works great now.

flip3d sucks, it's exactly the same as alt-tab just more flasy. plus the transparency is annoying, i only have it on as the default theme is butt ugly.

Well that's entirely original

Vista will definitely make quite a few sales based solely on the fact that it looks "cool" and "fresh".

But it's got nuttin.

Exactly my thoughts. :D

If Vista was what it set out to be then it would definatley be innovative i mean with WinFS and all the features it had touted it was set to be a killer, trouble is MS couldnt actually do any of that.

instead this is just the base, Vista will suck in my opinion. Vista 2 or whatever supercedes could be good as the features promised for vista might be there.

Ms suck at developing

i do just think that they are definitely copying ideas from Mac OS X and that they think with these features and their market gain that there won't be any point in switching to Macs, but how wrong they are really

Try installing XP under Bootcamp using Apple's instructions first. Then when you are in XP land, run the Vista installer.

Once again, MR to the rescue. :)

If you look in the original thread referenced in the guide, then there is a reply in which installing Vista without XP is discussed.... You basically need a little trick to be able to pull drivers off the Bootcamp disc and use them with Vista.

Has anyone else had a problem with disappearing Lakeport drivers? I finally got wifi to work, rendering Vista usable, but now I'm stuck with Intel's non-WDDM driver :[ The Lakeport drivers no longer appear in the drivers list under Intel, and they aren't available for download on Intel's or any other site. They don't seem to exist in the system folders, either. It's probably of dubious legality, but if someone with still-existing Lakeport drivers could upload them for me, I'd be eternally grateful.

Yes. The issue started with a Windows Update for the non-WDDM intel driver, and after that I somehow completely lost the WDDM driver. I'll boot back and screenshot.

Right, here's my drivers list. The listbox isn't a glitch, I had to extend it in GIMP since the window can't be resized. I've tried everything I can think of short of re-installing Vista, which is a last resort (but it's not really great enough to warrant that).

Try it once in the safe mode. It happened to me when I tried to updat ethe drivers from Windows update and my machine won't start in Vista. I used to get a black screen. I then tried a couple of things and then started Vista in safe mode to select the Lakeport again. It worked, but don't know how!!!

Well.. I installed Vista on my Latitude and boy did that have an unhappy ending. My partition table ended up being corrupted and I could not boot into Vista or Windows XP. Even Partition Magic didn't recognize the partition. It just came up as "Bad" haha. XP is now being reinstalled. I love my OSX. Things like this remind me of why I love OSX so much! I'm not a fanboy I just go by my experiences.

Now mac hardware... that is a different story
