My MacBook has a little case warping on the side. The opening is extremely small, but it is there nonetheless. If you look towards the right side of the picture, the case looks like it should, but towards the left, above the ports, there is an opening that will not close...is it worth replacing? I ordered it online with more ram, so does that mean that I have to send it back and then wait for another to ship?

It's hard to see in a picture...others have posted about this same problem. I think I'll keep it, since I have no mooing or whining, and it doesn't get unbearably hot.

I can see it clear as day. I wouldn't be happy about it, but I think I'd just have to learn to live with it.

I just bought a MacBook today, I hope it doesn't have any problems.

Yeah there are more important/destructive flaws that could have been there, so I'm not too mad. I wish you luck for a perfect MacBook!

Above the firewire and one of the usb ports there's a little gap. I had to use screen magnifier to see it though.. :p

I'd say its less than 0.5mm, don't worry about. If it gets any bigger, take it in asap.

I see a very slight upward bowing of the laptop lid. I've had mine two days and after I saw the image, I closed my macbook's lid and saw the same thing. I'd chalk it up to acceptable fault tolerance in the production process (or the case molding process). It's certainly nothing to worry about, as I had to positively stare at that picture for awhile to see the 'warping'.

Ok now I've seen everything. What were you doing, spending hours with a magnifying glass trying desperately to find a fault?

Nothing to see hear.. move along folks.

It isn't really the same, but my MacBook Pro came with a very VERY small dent by the PC slot. It's hardly noticable at all, but maybe Apple have some manufacturing problems?

This is a joke, right?

Considering there are Macbooks out there which are doing impressions of farmyard animals and turning yellow, this is seems a wee bit petty

Are you insane? Which company will give you replacement for something you cant even see.

When I brought my TI powerbook it retailed for over 3k. now you can get a macbook for 1k. If you paid 3k for it maybe but when you buying a lowend product... People do get replacements for real problems, which other companies will probably not even look at.

My Macbook isnt the right shade of black can i return it? It really doesnt watch my dell monitor.

Apple have become to greedy with profits now.

Before they were 100% for the customer, but now I'm not sure.

They should be 100% for the stockholders.... Not the Customers.

If you guys look at the space between the LCD and the lappy itself you can see the warp.

I can see the warp , but its slight. But should Apple exchange the macbook? If they do not exchange for 3 dead pixels they shouldnt exchange for this.

Seems alot of people buy Apple products since they are shinny.

If somebody wants a 100% perfect to them laptop you need to buy it used and check it out for yourself. If you really think it is a problem take the 10% hit and return it.

I've had my MacBook Pro for 2 days and the screen has already warped there is a good 2mm gap each side seen from the front, for a laptop that cost this much I'm a little disappointed , or am i just fussy ?

You're not fussy, this has been a problem ever since Apple started making Aluminium PowerBooks. And I've seen some really bad ones too, I've never had a problem though.

I think it's funny (not in a haha way but wryly). When Apple produce hardware built to "The Jobs Standard" and price it accordingly, no-one buys it. When they produce hardware that takes a compromise between their styling and affordability, everyone complains about stuff which they would never do if it was another manufacturer. As for the mooing, whining/fizzing, ticking etc a lot of the problems probably come from the fact that the MB/MBP's don't have a typhoon-like fan as on other manufacturers to drown out the noises that laptops normally make (although of course this would also reduce complains about 'toasted nuts' :p )

The MBP warping? Well unless they put the screen latches on the edges of the screen as well as in the middle, it's bound to happen with the sizes of screens we're talking about.

Well said.
Apple is becoming a victim of their success. With all the sales of iPods, they are getting a lot of people buying Macs because it is "cool" or "trendy" or "it matches my decor". These same people know little about computers and set their expectations WAY too high to a level Apple could never meet.

I agree, this was my theory from the beginning that it's mostly the new customers that are complaining.
