It wouldn't surprise me if they were looking to bring the dynamic island to macOS given how well received its been on the iPhone.
I'd love to see FaceID on Macs - it works very well on the iPad Pro when using that with a keyboard in landscape mode, but it's the thickness that seems to have prevented it coming over. Studio Displays and iMacs though... not sure why its not appeared there.
