I just exchanged a macbook that was damaged out of the box. Now the new one i just got wont sit flat. The right palm rest is about a dimes width above the table. I have checked this on all surfaces and it isn't my desk. Is this something that can be fixed in the apple store, or do i have to do another exchange.?

MacBook wont sit flat on any surface.

3 options:
1.) take it to a "genious" and get GREAT (sarcasim) results
2.) get an iCurve and an external KB and Mouse
3.) Sledgehammer

Do i really have the only macbook that does this? Has anyone heard of any fixes that i could try myself. I really dont want to return this thing because of this. The apple store is 1.5 hours away and i know the "geniuses" will just give me grief.
My Macbook appears to have the same problem. When I press down on the right corner, it moves down slightly. It is not alot of movement... just enough that I know that one of the rubber pads is not making contact with my desk.
I have also noticed that the gap around my battery compartment is not even. It is really tight in two of the corners. My macbook gets pretty warm (as others have reported) so maybe the heat has slightly warped the case
I think that with time the rubber feet will eventually wear down to a point where there is even pressure on all feet... or maybe things will only get worse.
I am not really sure what I should do I am interested in what others have to say. I live in Canada, and bought my macbook online with a education discount.

Mine too is a bit like this - a tad annoying on some surfaces and I can see the warpage when I look horizontally on it. However I think it's just going to be like this, some being worse than others, if the battery is placed where it is.
I can't be bothered at the moment to send my MacBook back again for such a cosmetic issue, but if it annoys me more it will be on a plane on the way back to the factory!

This scares me. Why? Well, because I returned my first MB due to discoloration, overheating, and "mooOoooOooing". I haven't noticed this not-sitting-flat problem, but if some are starting to bend.. that's not good. I refuse to check this and the battery alignment problem; It'll drive me crazy. 
mine sits flat and DEFINITELY hasn't started "bending" - I'd take it back or call applecare. It sucks to have to go through the hassle of a replacement yet again, but I wouldn't try and find a work around (ie: the icurve suggestion).. that's really just avoiding the problem, rather than fixing it. for a $1100+ laptop, you shouldn't have to "deal" with something like that. what if you want to take it anywhere? typing on a non-flush lappy has GOT to be annoying...
Typing on it is ok because it takes a fair amount of force to push it down.
I'm going to keep an eye on this and probably email Applecare to see what they say about it. I reckon I might send it back if it continues to get worse - as a few days ago it only wobbled a bit, now it's very obvious. As I say, it doesn't affect typing, but it sure is annoying to look at!
EDIT: Yeh, just emailed Applecare. Will whack out my sister's MacBook aswell to see if her's is doing the same. I'm getting so annoyed at Apple now. Tempted to just get my money back and wait a while... Apple... please make me happy!
EDIT 2: Ok, I just got my sister's new MacBook out and tried it on the same surfaces as mine. Now I find that mine is actually flush on some surfaces and not on others. I thought, hey, lets switch batterys... And found mine was suddenly a lot better. Then I took the battery out. It's flush! I think what the problem is, is that the front left where the battery is can be a little lower than the other corners thus giving the appearance of a bend because it's a bit higher. I dunno... it's odd... I'm gonna watch and see what happens

I tried taking some photos but it's very hard to get it right.
I've left my MacBook out for a bit to see it it'll sit right. To be honest, I think it's just the pad on the battery being a little bit too large - I guess it's hard to get it right!

I think the screen's bending a little too. I'm waiting for it to get slightly worse (and after I've decided on a new Dell or Sony backup laptop) before I take it in to be looked at.
Tomorrow I am going to be ringing up Apple to start the process of getting *another* replacement MacBook. Seriously hope this one will come sooner and won't have dead pixels or be bent...

It's hard to explain how it "bends" but it's that it wobbles. You know like chairs do where two legs are slighty longer than the other two. You stick a beer-mat underneath one leg to stop it wobbling?
Well that beer-mat is now underneath one corner of my MacBook. It looks horrible to have to do it aswell.

Well, just come off the phone to Apple - 5 minute chat and they are sending me my new MacBook over now. Woohoo I love the 14 day rule!
Anyway, I urge anyone with a similar wobbling problem to get it swapped over. It's not right to have it doing that lets face it.
Everyone who has been saying to live with it... well... go away! We people who value Apple's products want to get what we pay for. If I wanted a shoddily built laptop I'd go buy a packard bell!

my g4 powerbook is the same way. the battery cover on the battery isn't perfectly attached and doesn't sit smooth and as a result it's a bit wobbly. apple told me it was not something that could be fixed or replaced under warranty as the battery works fine.
My Macbook Pro is bent also.. it looks as if it fricken warped!
I know I had a bad batttery also.. and may was thinking it was the battery that caused it to warp.. I do hate it and would like a new one. .but im seriously glad that I am not the only one...
Please let me know what you guys find out as I did not pay $2500 for a laptop that would warp in 3 months!

I just called Applecare and made a case for it.. the guy was very helpful and nice.. so he just told me that if its nothing that I did.. (dropped, threw, stepped on..) then they will fix it for mw.. im not sure if that means replacing a new case or whatever..
But i have to take it in to an Apple Store tomorrow.. im not too happy about my laptop being out of my hands for 1-2 weeks.. so hopefully they will replace it with a new one.. cuzz I use it alot and need to have it on me 3-4 days out of the week..
