Best part is you know nothing about it either - the El Gato TV tuner supports 1080i out of the box.

Good game?
Wow. Please explain how you would would hook up an Xbox 360 to that to have a High Definition picture. Consumer connections only allow High Definition over Component, VGA and HDMI (DVI). That tuner has neither of those, it can only tune in HD channels which are compressed from OTA or cable, nothing at all like the output of an Xbox 360.

I'll say it again, Please don't comment if you don't know a thing about HDTV.

There IS NO LATENCY in the new tuners. Try it out if you don't believe me. I've been playing my box on it for months with no problem.

I will stress: The General has no idea what he's talking about with regards to these TV tuners. Maybe about 3-4 years ago there was a terrible latency making most games impossible to play, but he obviously has no experience with the new tuners that are available on the market. Please don't comment if you have no idea what you're talking about.

Thanks.

hey, don't try to say that The General doesn't know what he's talking about....when you don't either. The OP said he wants High-Definition gaming, and you can't get that through any tuner

Jesus, would you guys actually use these before you comment? The USB stick has a small USB input port on the side that supports a component splitter. In other words, you can get a component->USB converter that will allow you to run component on the tuner. That's what I've been doing since I bought it in January at Macworld.

Note: granted, I did have to dig around some China companies to find a component->USB compatible cable, but it works!

Good game?

YOU ARE INCORRECT You cannot do this, such a device does not exist. The crap you are say will only allow for composite connection. Composite only allows for 480i. The OP wanted 720P or 1080i/P which can only be transmitted over Component, VGA, DVI, or HDMI.

If you want to prove us wrong, then simply link to the page where is states that the USB Tuner has a HD Component input.

All these solutions involve converting. There is now a new solution. Buy an Xbox 360 Elite with HDMI out. Then go to a electronics store of search on line for an HDMI to DVI adapter. HDMI is pin for pin the same signal as DVI.

Yeah, that would be the next best option next to getting a Dell monitor. The only one disputing this fact is vraxtus.

On the USB stick there's a USB input - I'll have to find the company where I bought the ADDITIONAL USB->component cable from. If you really don't believe me, I can SS my 'box running 1080i at home.

Says the regular from 06. Right... you got me there  lol

No, says the guy that has an great understanding of transmission standards.

If you think post count has anything to do with intelligence, you are a lot more foolish then I thought.

Go ahead, post a screen shot of your eyetv with a 1080i component input.

Since you seem to be the god of AV standards, and evidently I'm wrong, I'll let you continue to wallow in your ignorance. Thanks!

Oh would you look at that, neither Composite or S-Video have the ability to be used with High Definition.

Serousily, stop telling everyone else to post because you think they are wrong, when in fact they are correct and you are not.

Why should he run his 360 through an expensive TV tuner, through his computer, and then onto the monitor when he can just plug it RIGHT INTO THE MONITOR? LOL

You have GOT to be kidding me.

Even IF the quality was awesome, and even if there is no latency, hell I don't care if the TV tuner takes solid gold dumps every time you play Xbox360, it's still a pointless thing to do. Hey, why not get 2 computers, run the output of the Xbox360 through a TV tuner, through the computer into another TV tuner through that computer and into the monitor?

Get outta here, lol.

Because he wants to run it through an ACD which is a total pain in the ass to convert video from a X360 from / to, unless you get a converter box.

Anyways, I'm done justifying this to you. I've spent the better part of the last 3 years trying to find a good solution to the problem for the OP, and I actually have the setup he's using to run it. This was the only solution I was able to effectively find that actually worked.

It's a $5 cable! I linked it in one of my previous posts!

HDMI -> DVI-D

It's ONE $5 cable! How is that a pain in the ass or a converter box??

I'm talking about current gen boxes. X360 elite isn't out yet. Plus I'm still skeptical if I even want to spend $500 on a new X360 JUST for that damn port, even though I have a double HDMI 1080i TV :\

Are you joking? They are selling them at the mall here. My friend has one. I have a 23" ACD. I have the $5 cable. I played Xbox Elite on my ACD.

Are you done yet?
