What brand of tv do you find to be the best? Sony?
I bought an LG for my self, I'm sure its far from the best, but the price was right.
I'm surprised to hear that. I've had Samsung monitors and TVs (both old and recent) and I've only ever had 1 faulty monitor which they replaced and a TV die as a result of a lightning strike. I always thought Samsung was one of the better companies for displays.
I've heard nothing but horror stories, from the service techs who fixed my tv under warranty, other techs at work, everyone. Its brutal.

Apple was founded by a dead beat dad who refused to admit the existence of his very own daughter.

Shouldn't anybody who believes in family values boycott Apple then?

This type of thing with I'll sue you, you sue me happens everyday and we use their products everyday. We only know about Apple/Samsung because we frequent this forum. Millions and millions of Apple users don't know what's going on and probably wouldn't care.

Let them fight it out while I enjoy my Samsung monitor and my MBs and iPhones. I just don't care.

Maybe I've been lucky. Regardless, Samsung is still the first company I look to for displays and unless I experience some of the poor satisfaction you described I doubt it will change.

I'll buy what suits me, be it Microsoft, Sony, Apple, Toshiba, or the evil Samsung (or others).

The problem with working tech support/service is that you only hear the horror stories. People with working products don't call in to get it "fixed" or tell you it's working.

Really, you can't base your opinion of a product/service on the experience of someone who fixes it. I wouldn't be subscribed to my current ISP if I thought my experience working there 10 years ago reflected their actual quality.

If you're providing services of any kind to Microsoft products, there is only horror stories.

Soon enough Apple will design their own NAND & DRAM and be 100% free of Samsung. That's what the purchase of Anobit was about. Apple will do 100% of their own component designs for mobile devices by 2015-2016 and 100% of component design for Macbooks by 2018. They will remain fab-less, but by eliminating the middle-man component designer that will increase their control and profits.

Anobit doesn't make or design NAND. They make SSD controllers and concentrante on improving endurance of NAND.

Designing SoCs makes some sense because it allow customization but you can't customize NAND or DRAM, it's all the same. Why should Apple spend even a penny on designing that stuff? They can already buy it from numerous suppliers.

Fab-less means they would still depend on others. Actually, it might worsen their position. Now, when a new process node is released, Apple can buy the chips based on that. However, without their own fab they would have to wait for the manufacturer to manufacture their own chips first. Samsung wouldn't start with Apple chips, they would start with their own.

Besides, as stated above, who would manufacture the stuff? NAND and DRAM are low profit products due to high competition, why should Apple enter that? A consumer won't care what's inside his phone. Oh, right, he doesn't even know.

That's because most people exaggerate the issue. Often it's a simple fix and people blow things out of proportion simply because they have no understanding of what is wrong and instead assume it's some deadly serious issue.

As others stated, by boycotting Samsung, we'd basically have to stop buying apple products because of the samsung components being used in apple products.

Those type of "movements" are laughable and ludicrous as the same time. As LTD stated consumers don't care one iota about this stuff and will buy the product that they feel best fits their needs. Funny thing, that's what I do as well. I have a couple of samsung TVs in my house because the model I chose was the best one I felt for my budget. I'd do it over again
