Command-Shift-4 and select the area you want to screenshot, or press space to capture the whole window.
thanks for your help but this forum seems a bit crazy. i did the appropriate download from the apple site.....unless there's a fake apple site which i doubt. some of the posters are not helpful. i think i will just go to the store, have the icons deleted and go back to normal...perhaps i accidentally clicked on something but i don't think i have the skills for this.

On Apple official website no MacKeeper is attached to the download. Will you please provide a screenshot where it is attached.
I will refrain from calling you names, practicing extreme self-control for the first and last time in your case.
then just leave me alone. i don't know how to do a screenshot, you accuse me of downloading from somewhere other than the apple site and you're showing self control. whoever you are, please, just ignore me. i'll go to the store and have this removed and go back to Yosemite and wait for the real download. no self-control needed.......

I already told you how to do a screenshot. Press Command-Shift-4 and drag your mouse over the area you want to select.

The problem is that nobody accused you of doing anything wrong. What was written is that you might've have wandered on a wrong site. No harm was meant whatsoever and you call me a troll...

maybe you're saying that they are separate issues. maybe i just need to go to the store and have the 3 bad icons removed without removing El Capitan. I can try that too.

Open App Store, press the Updates tab and on your keyboard press Command+Shift+3.

A screenshot of your screen will be made on your desktop.

Upload the screenshot here by pressing the 'Upload a File' button beside 'Post Reply' when you reply.

Will you please tell us when those three applications appear during the process?
Yes, you understood me right, they should not be there and if they are somehow, you have to get rid of them as soon as possible.

Do you have icons related to these three software (MacKeeper, ZipCloud and Advanced Mac Cleaner) on your Mac?

There are two reasons why these applications are there: either you didn’t download the beta from the official source, which is an App Store redeem code on the website above, or your system was infected with something before. It might be a good idea to do a quick malware check (link below). To get the beta, go to that Apple website, get your redeem code and redeem it in the App Store. That’s all.

thank you all for your suggestions. i have a feeling that the 3 icons have nothing to do with downloading the beta because it can't be just me and because I did download it the proper way from the apple site. i will go to the genius bar at my local store tomorrow and ask them to remove the three icons. i am under warranty and think this will be the best way for me to handle this because it is not something i have encountered before and am not entirely comfortable doing my own repairs. thank you, i believe now that these icons have nothing to do with the El Capitan beta and must be a result of something else and will have them removed. i didn't open them or engage them.

@ollywang: Please, consider the chance of solving this issue by yourself. It is easy and you can do it, I am sure.
I presume the three icons (MacKeeper, ZipCloud and Advanced Mac Cleaner) are in the same location? Please find them, you can do it in Finder. If the icons are on Desktop, you can right click on each and choose "Move to Trash". After deleting the icons, just to be on the safe side, run MalwareBytes Anti-Malwafe for Mac (https://www.malwarebytes.org/antimalware/mac/). Just two simple steps and you are done.

With all due respect, I think it would be best if you don’t even install the beta. Being a beta tester is a bit of a commitment and things will likely break down and require some outside the box thinking on your part. If you’re not willing or able to solve problems on your own then you won’t enjoy the beta.
