I ordered a MBA 13/1.86/4/128 from them yesterday by phone, they called me back last night to confirm order, called their credit card processing department today, no problem, no upselling.

They guy on the phone yesterday tried to upsell, but so was the Apple guy in the store. I was going to buy in store, but they had only ultimate configurations, meaning maxed out 11 and 13 in versions.

By the way, NO FREE OVERNIGHT SHIPPING. You get UPS ground.

Stay away from MacMall.

Ordered a iBook 600 from them many years ago that came with a free Epson Printer. They indicated both, the printer and iBook, were in stock when I ordered. Nothing shows up after a week. I call them and they say the iBook is backordered, I cancelled the order. 4-5 days later the free printer shows up but instead of being free they charge me $149 as I cancelled my iBook order. I called them back and told 'em I'd be returning the unopened printer and that they should refund me the $149. No dice, they said I could return it but there would now be a restocking fee.

Stay away from MacMall, stay away.

I will be purchasing a 13" MBA in the next week or so. MacMall is a possible vendor. I appreciate all of the opinions on this thread. All are valid, and will be taken into consideration when I decide from whom I will buy. This thread is helping me to make an informed decision. I will be ready if and when I order from MacMall and I get a phone call or two or three from them. One thing that I do expect is that my credit card will be charged, and I will receive my merchandise within a reasonable time frame.

I tried the affiliate link that leads to the 11" option with stock specs for $949, but when you switch to customize and add more RAM the price goes back to their normal $979. Still $$ off from list, but I wish the rebate applied to configs as well.

For the tax savings I will be ordering from MacMall once I decide on 11" or 13"...

Darn... I just ordered a 13in MBA with them... They called and tried to upsell me to a MBP, in a rather annoying fashion.

Their "concern" is the shipping timeframe on a 4gb MBA, which may be understanding as I dont quite know what their turnaround with Apple is for BTO machines.

Since it appears they fully charged my card, I'm NOT thrilled thus far. The rebates were rather tempting though.

Isn't that illegal??? I'm amazed that they could stay in business!

I ordered a 13" 4GB/256GB model on Friday from them with Saturday shipping selected. I am going out of town tomorrow and wanted to have it for my trip, so anything other than Saturday delivery wasn't going to work. The guy took my order and said he'd call if there were any problems. I got my confirmation email so assumed everything was fine. Well, I didn't get it yesterday. Looked at their site, said my status was "in process". Called back, apparently my credit card had been declined (which turns out is because the person I originally spoke to got my billing address wrong even after I literally spelled it out for him three different times). I asked why they didn't call me to tell me there would be a delay, the new guy said "Um, no idea". I told him at this point I needed to cancel since getting it even on Monday wouldn't work, he goes "OK, whatever" and hung up. Nice.

i was about to jump on a 13.3" MBA 1.86/4gb/128gb on macmall. Incredible price of $1308 shipped (that's about $150 less than apple.com with educational discount but after tax). Plus free Parallels too! I called them earlier today and they said they were expecting them in on 11/05. All these horror stories I'm hearing from everyone are kinda scaring me away though ... dunno if the $150 is worth the possible hassle...

Where are you seeing that price? Shows as $1349 for me.

Remember, MacMall doesn't take returns on Apple products. You're much better off ordering directly from Apple.

Macmall is full of crap....they will call you to "VERIFY" the order and then try to sell you all kinds of crap. Then they will hang up with you and then call you back saying they forgot to ask you something and try to sell you more crap, and I even had it happen a third time. Forget them, I would just buy from Amazon, cheaper, no tax, no shipping, and most of all, NO PHONE CALLS! Plus Amazon has easier credit standards if you want to finance...

I concur. It's nearly impossible to beat Amazon. They're the best !

I called Apple online last night, and I told them about Macmall's price for the maxed out 13" and that they didn't charge tax. Since Apple has to charge me sales tax, the Apple rep reduced the price so that I'm getting it for 1,659 + 136.87 tax, total = $1,795.87. My local Apple store wouldn't adjust the price, so I would have paid $1,947. My order shows delivery being between Nov 3 - Nov 9: I don't mind waiting to save $150. :)

I guess that I could have saved another $50 by going through Macmall, but after reading through this thread, it didn't seem worth it. I'm glad that so many shared their experiences.

Ordered from them many times and have never received any type of calls trying to upsell. But it has been a while so it may be a newer practice of theirs.
