I have made a new bootable USB drive on a SD card and it doesn't boot and just now an a USB stick, they all make the MBP quit just after the status bar appears if I select them. I have done everything to the lettre from your site (http://dosdude1.com/sierrapatch.html) and did step 1 till 4 for at least 5 times now to make a bootable USB drive. I am sure I am overseeing something here, because they all just won't work. Even tried all the USB ports to no prevail... #help?
Hi - I think I have a similar problem to MacWaZoo. I have a MacbookPro3,1 (Crucial 1Tb SSD, 16Gb RAM, El Capitan). I'm using the Sierra install (Version 12.0.58 (1258)) from the AppStore and patcher 4.2.1. I followed the USB creation as per dosdude's (excellent) instructions. Everything's fine up to the point I choose to boot from the USB drive (I've tried 3 different ones). Each time I get to this point
- The grey apple screen with the apple logo appears.
- The flash drive light flickers for about 30 secs and then goes off.
- Nothing else happens (don't even get as far as the progress bar showing). I've eft this for a couple of hours just to make sure.
I have disabled SIP in recovery mode.
Any ideas
Thanks
CPU's without SSE4.1 instruction set is not supported (see post #1).
If I'm not mistaken, I believe this is the same method mentioned quite awhile earlier. While it does indeed work, it causes random kernel panics. I will do some testing, though, and see if I can't manage to get it working any better. If so, I'll go ahead and add it to my tool.I was wondering if anybody saw the video that fixes the Wi-Fi cards in the MACs. I don't take any credit for this video. This video lets you DL a zip file that contains the correct keys for the Wi-Fi cards. I just did it on my MacBookPro4,1 that didn't have Wi-Fi. I was using a usb adapter. Once I installed the correct keys and rebooted my internal Wi-Fi came back. If this was posted already I am sorry for the repost.

I understand that it works, but users who have done this method have reported experiencing random kernel panics.wooooooow cool.now my WIFI on my iMac 8.1 works.THX

yes, but after the computer restart you do a new WIFI Connection and it works.

You can download the latest version of my tool, make your drive, and re-run the post-install patch. Or, you can simply get the PlatformSupport.plist file from inside the contents of the macOS Sierra Patcher app, and place it in /System/Library/CoreServices in your Sierra install.I have a MBP 5,5 which I updated back in October with Sierra 10.12 and I think the patcher tool was 4.1.4. Since then I have successfully updated to 10.12.1. I just noticed today that I'm unable to boot into the safe mode. I get the no entry symbol. Could someone give me some direction on what I need to do to be able to safe boot. I see the patcher tool has been updated to 'fix' that problem. Being a novice I just don't want to do something that creates more problems than is solves. Thanks in advance and thanks DosDude for a fix that even a rookie can use.

Yeah, it would work, but you may have instability as mentioned. Try it for awhile if you want, though, and let me know how it goes.I posted a bit ago but I have a BroadCom 43XX 0x90, technically it could work on Sierra at the cost of having random KPs?
currently I'm using a Linksys AE6000 for wifi.(It was a pain to set up but eventually it started working)
Reboot or try just re-opening Disk Utility. This is a glitch with the Sierra installer, not my tool.dosdude1 I noticed when using your latest version when trying to format my drive the disk utility doesn't allow me to format any drives or create partitions. Everything is showing up grey.
[doublepost=1481413233][/doublepost]I'm using a Macbook pro mid 2009 and am thinking of using this patch to get Sierra, however, I am also hoping I can put Win 10 on Bootcamp which I couldn't do with El Capitan which only allowed Win7 (I work freelance in accounting so need to have th eDarkside installed), does anyone know if I'll be able to or if there is a patch or other solution to get Win 10 on my Mac?Introduction
For the first time since OS X Mountain Lion (10.8) in 2012, macOS Sierra (10.12) has changed the official minimum requirements needed for installation, leaving many older (but still perfectly capable) Macs behind.
- MacBook (late 2009 or later)
- iMac (late 2009 or later)
- MacBook Air (2010 or later)
- MacBook Pro (2010 or later)
- Mac mini (2010 or later)
- Mac Pro (2010 or later)
This is a thread for people to discuss and offer solutions for newly unsupported Macs in macOS Sierra. This post will be updated with solutions as they become available.
Apple History
OS X Snow Leopard (10.6) was the first version of OS X with support for 64-bit kernels, allowing booting with either a 32-bit or 64-bit kernel. However, Apple did not support booting the 64-bit kernel in Macs that shipped with EFI32 firmware, even if they had 64-bit processors capable of running the 64-bit kernel. When Apple dropped the 32-bit kernel entirely in OS X Mountain Lion (10.8), EFI32 Macs no longer had an Apple-supported mechanism to boot newer versions of OS X.
OS X El Capitan (10.11) includes SIP (System Integrity Protection/Rootless). It makes sure that system files and their permissions are automatically protected, and also updated during Software Updates. The Repair Permissions function is no longer available and access to system files that need to be changed may require disabling it.
Known Issues:
Models Tested:
- macOS Sierra dropped support for Wi-Fi cards (BCM4321) used in most 2008 and some 2009 Macs. A hardware upgrade is required to get Wi-Fi functionality on those models.
- iMac8,1 - Volume control for the Built-In Audio device may work improperly or not at all.
- Macbook5,2 - The trackpad is not configurable, it is detected as a regular mouse instead.

Older Legacy Macs not in this table (including the MacBook2,1, MacBook3,1 and iMac5,1) can install Mountain Lion (10.8), Mavericks (10.9), and Yosemite (10.10) with MacPostFactor or OS X Extractor (noted in the spoiler below), but are not supported by OS X El Capitan (10.11) or later.
MacPro1,1 and 2,1 can run OS X El Capitan with the methods noted in the spoiler below, but are currently not supported by macOS Sierra due to a lack of SSE 4 support (the CPU can be upgraded but its firmware does not support newer SSE 4-compatible CPUs).
Current Development Files:

Legacy USB Injector Kext
OS X Extractor - Beta USB Kexts.zip (depreciated)

actually Sierra ONLY allow Windows 10 installations on Bootcamp. I also have a mid 2009 pro and it shows windows 10 on bootcamp assistant, so you may give it a try, I think it will work fine.[doublepost=1481413233][/doublepost]I'm using a Macbook pro mid 2009 and am thinking of using this patch to get Sierra, however, I am also hoping I can put Win 10 on Bootcamp which I couldn't do with El Capitan which only allowed Win7 (I work freelance in accounting so need to have th eDarkside installed), does anyone know if I'll be able to or if there is a patch or other solution to get Win 10 on my Mac?

Understood... It sounds like you've seen this before. I have tried those recommendations and still ran into the same problem. One thing I noticed is the bar is now a popup box so the command Q work around you posted on your site isn't required. I have remade the median multiple times and still run into the same issue.Reboot or try just re-opening Disk Utility. This is a glitch with the Sierra installer, not my tool.

I had that issue also when using the linked file from the site. Once I used an image I got directly from Apple I was able to load into the setup, but I then ran into the issue listed above.im trying to install this on a 2008 unibody MacBook. However it just hangs when i boot from the usb the bar gets to the end eventually but then just stays there. Any ideas. Using @dosdude1 patcher tool. Many thanks
