iMac mid-2007 (iMac7,1) - Very hard, unsupported Merom CPU, Can upgrade to Penryn. Also BCM4321

If anyone has managed to get this machine working with Sierra, please let me know! I'd like to get at least 10 years out of this machine, even if it means hardware upgrades.
I had a friend upgrade his to a Core 2 Duo T9300, and it ran Sierra just fine.

I'd be interested if there were other users who can confirm this.

A post on ifixit - https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/53213/CPU+upgrade+2.0GHz+to+2.8Ghz+(+C2D+Extreme+X7900+) - says vaguely "I have read online posts stating the newer T9300 and T9500 processors might not work in this generation of iMac."

About 3-4 years ago we changed one of my friends iMac's cpu to T9500. It's working fine, but the system profiler reports extremly ugly information for that combination. 500-1000MHz cpu speed with 333 or 400 MHz FSB, but benchmarking results is nearly equal to any other T9500 based configuration.

Congratulations to ,,creators,, for Ultra-Fast and ,,one-click use,, patcher :) Im using Apple Products since 2011 and this is the first moment, when im ,,forced and raped,, to ugrade-buy new computer (which are maybe one of the best models ever built by Apple). The patch should be the solution, so thank you once again for great work! I would like to UNDERSTAND and therefore ask some questions from the creators. Maybe you find my questions dumb, but im also interrested in this kind of things...
- why is neccessary to patch the USB and the GPU HDMi ? What is the reason ? I understand, that otherwise are they not working... Is it, because the late2009, 2010 models of computers which are ofic.supported are using other motherboards as (maybe) my Pro mid2009, or Mini early2009 ?
- 9400M is used also in many supported and unsupported machines (as other user writes it also in the beginning of this thread). What is the reason, that the DVI sound output (if i good understand) should be patched for correct working ?

Thank you for reply, and please, continue in this fantastic job :)

I'd recommend to not use the HDMI audio patch at this point, as it completely disables audio on some systems.

Hey one of my YouTube followers is having trouble with a microphone. Built in I think. They're on a 5,2. Thought you'd want to know in case it's a bug.

Make sure they didn't install the HDMI Audio patch. It causes all audio devices to stop working on that machine.

Hi, I have tired to get this to work for hours now but I cannot boot my late 2008 Macbook Pro from my USB flash drive. I am getting the symbol BOOT PROHIBITED immediately on selecting(enter) the drive to boot from. I have turned of SIP, I have made sure journaling is enabled, I have run the tool on my iMac and my Macbook Pro. I have no funky clue! (it is the correct sierra installer, as I am a developer account holder and I got it from app store).

Do you have any ideas? NVRAM? OpenFirmware? SMB?! SOMETHING magical?
Thanks!

Try using my tool to create the drive... Just be sure to follow the process as described here: http://dosdude1.com/sierrapatch.html

.......How did you get Sierra on a MacBook 4,1? And surely if we can work out the bugs in Sierra quickly, we can make a suitable X3100 kext. I remember Mavericks on my MacBook 4,1. God if I hadn't needed to upgrade I wouldn't have. But no seriously how'd you get past SIP?

I am curious too about SIP... It could help also for ElCapitan too. And people that is able to, can work on those kexts. The job made for making Yosemite working on my system was very good. I will keep following this thread. I am sure that we can find a working and stable solution before this fall. :D

Glad to see how the next beta update will work... If there's need to do something after every update (even after GM).
If not I'll give this my daily book (late 08) :)

This really sucks... they barely change the OS that they release every year, and it's all to screw over existing Mac users. They've just ruled out both my laptop and desktop. I still have lots of time before El Capitan is 'obsolete,' but it's still very annoying. It's also very annoying that my 4,1 and MacBook Pro (and others') will now have to be treated like 1,1/2,1 Mac Pros, in that these machines will now have to receive workarounds for the latest "macOS." What a shame. They've spiffed-up iOS, yet Mac OS (no, I am NOT calling it "macOS") is a lame duck. Anyway, I wonder if Apple has actually made a comeback, or if they'll continue ruining things like iTunes and iWork. The new iOS looks more promising than what they've recently been doing, but it's Apple-under-Tim-Cook after all.
If Steve Jobs were still alive, I could still install macOS Sierra on my MacPlus.
[doublepost=1466692252][/doublepost]Is the patched installer only able to setup a new system or is this just a precaution?

Just a precaution; it should work fine if doing an upgrade-install from a previous OS X version as well. Simply select the drive with the OS you wish to upgrade in the Installer, and it should work just fine. Just be sure to run the post-install patch afterwards, of course.

Im curious, has anyone else tried universal clipboard through their unsupported mac and an iphone or ipad? I have a late 2008 macbook pro and Iphone 6Plus running ios 10... i try to copy something however it never syncs to other devices.

EDIT... Is universal clipboard part of "handoff"?

Yes. It does indeed use handoff. You'll probably need a BT4.0 USB dongle and the Continuity Activation Tool to get it. I was testing the current developer's beta builds because of kernel panic issues in El Capitan so proceed with caution.

So installing macOS Sierra using this methodology will also install Sierra's Recovery partition too? Or we'll have to wait for a final release and also DiskmakerX? Just wondering...I have an early 2008 iMac, super capable machine. It's sad Wifi is not supported. Is this a final "state" or a workaround will be possible? What do you guys think?

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS TOOL.

Hello ferretex;

This is from my experience. It will create a Sierra Recovery partition. But as you will find out just like me, you won't be able to boot into that partition.

I don't know what dosdude1 has plans for the future and that's up to him to say.

Hope this makes sense to you.
