The cards are removable, you don't need to swap the board. Look for a BCM4322. Those cards work just fine.
Thanks!
By saying swapping MB I mean I would like to leave the headroom for a C2D E8435/T9900 and a higher FSB...
:)
P.S. Do the half-high BCM4322s work on the iMac?

This really sucks... they barely change the OS that they release every year, and it's all to screw over existing Mac users. They've just ruled out both my laptop and desktop. I still have lots of time before El Capitan is 'obsolete,' but it's still very annoying. It's also very annoying that my 4,1 and MacBook Pro (and others') will now have to be treated like 1,1/2,1 Mac Pros, in that these machines will now have to receive workarounds for the latest "macOS." What a shame. They've spiffed-up iOS, yet Mac OS (no, I am NOT calling it "macOS") is a lame duck. Anyway, I wonder if Apple has actually made a comeback, or if they'll continue ruining things like iTunes and iWork. The new iOS looks more promising than what they've recently been doing, but it's Apple-under-Tim-Cook after all.
[doublepost=1467280406][/doublepost]It means your hardware has enjoyed multiple, free OS releases for over 5 years. If your system cost $2,000 on purchase, that means all the worjk Apple did since then made them less than a dollar a day off of you.

I'm in the same boat and would like the new and shiny. However, Apple isn't forcing me to buy new hardware, and El Capitan is still pretty awesome. A lot of the hardware cutoff this time may have to do with onboard decryption hardware included on newer Intel motherboards.

First I want to thank's everyone for the work.
I have a 2008 Mac Pro 2008. I tried to install Sierra (just to know if I will have to buy a new computer). The problem is I have a flash PC Card (HD 5770) so I don't see anything at the boot screen.
I tried to use the patch but, when I restart my computer on the USB Drive it take a very long time (I stop it after 1 hour). Is it normal ? Do I have to leave the boot continue ?

The installer like the boot screen or the recovery partition requires an EFI video card. You need to replace the flashed 5770 with an original Apple card. Installed systems can boot fine with the flashed cards.

I flashed a 5770 and get a boot screen on my Mac Pro. Works flawlessly. I have a video about it here:

El Capitan isn't too awesome... also, what Apple is doing is completely deliberate. You realize that they are supporting the 2009 MacBook, yet not the 2009 MacBook Pro? How do you explain that one?

Alright, so thanks to you guys I did get 10.12 working on my MacBook 5,2. One thing I noticed, my trackpad works but is recognized as a regular mouse. Could just a beta thing though
[doublepost=1467317415][/doublepost]Has anyone tried this on an early 2009 Mac Mini?

Yep, Sierra is running fine on my Mac Mini 3,1. Only issue is the unsupported WiFi card.

same here Danna - 3,1 mac mini running reasonably well (no worse than el capitan which makes all this even more BS)

thanks very much to the creators, contributors and for dosdude for the advice!

Just as a sidenote Danna - do you get graphics issues when you to the desktop / screen saver settings in settings app? I can't decide if it's just vnc or not but it wont show thumbnails properly for me. - tiny thing, but hey.

This seems really interesting. Is it possible to do it with my card who was already flashed. Btw is it necessary to have a PC ? Can't I use my mac to boot FreeDOS ?

Unfortunately, Macs pre-2012 can't load BIOS Emulation mode with USB drives. You'll need to use a PC, or you may be able to make a bootable hard drive to use.

You can use the plop boot loader burned to a CD to BIOS boot a USB stick with a OS on it that is BIOS only (I have done it before to install windows 10 64bit on a MacBook2,1)

This project really needs its own forum. This thread is going to burn out dosdude1 with its endless repeated questions. Let people have an entire forum to make threads/help each other/search threads to find titles instead. I suggest asking if the netkas forums can create a subforum for this tool: http://forum.netkas.org

Hey @dosdude1 can you credit the kexts in the readme? Credit me for the USB one. The other credits are at the bottom of the HTML file in my github repo.

Can you look at the scripts for automatically extracting/recreating prelinked kernel? And the way to use pkgutil and sed command on the osinstall distribution file.

instead of copying a modified installable machines plist, you should use code to ADD the old models to the array.

If you do both of these things, you would avoid redistribution of copyrighted apple files. Also, it would AUTOMATICALLY work with beta 2 because nothing would be hard coded.
