what happens if you change up your settings? or disable the screensaver? or perhaps it's a wonky preference file...
Disabling the Screensaver just stops the screensaver from coming on... If I change the other Keyboard settings, they stay until they don't :p I don't know at exactly what point things change, but they do. I've only seen this happen after coming back to my machine and the Screensaver is on. I can use the thing all day long and nothing changes.. Put it down and come back 15 minutes later and the keyboard backlight is down to 0% again.Doesn't matter what screensaver I use, either.

:::::EDIT:::::
I just noticed my Keyboard Backlight was off again, and I'd been using it all morning. So, something is just triggering the Keyboard Backlight to zero/off while I'm actively using it.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Is there a way to change the color of the menu bar? Having it embedded in the wallpaper sometimes makes difficult to see the icons, especially as I am visually impaired.

Speedometer results somewhat disappointing, low 110-120s in beta 7 where beta 1 was regularly scoring 150s-160s.

Root mode slightly better in that you can launch apps in the dock but Finder still locks up..

It might be because I'm testing Sonoma on an 8 GB RAM i5 2018 Intel machine, but after going through my usual round of apps (Office, Acrobat, a few OpenGL based games like FTL) this build of Sonoma 'feels' the opposite of 'snappier..'

When a standalone installer becomes available I may try to wipe and reinstall, but I don't feel confident it'll resolve the responsiveness issue.. moving it to a 16 GB RAM machine or Apple Silicon unit would likely yield better results.

So I got a hold of an Intel 13-inch 2020 with an i7 (Ice Lake as opposed to 2018 Coffee Lake) and 16 GB RAM and hoooo boy what a difference! Faster, more responsive, and Speedometer 2.1 scored 227-230! Both are running beta 7.. guess I will relegate the 8 GB 2018 to Linux, it'll be faster that way.

Looks like Intel made great strides with their 10th generation CPUs, but they don't hold a candle to the M1/M2, at least Speedometer-wise, for which I easily see scores of 400+ just on the Air.

Two bad bugs appeared today with beta 7.

The window focusing bug that was in the early builds is still present. I have the Finder window open, but it isn't active. Trying to select file on the Desktop, have to sometimes try more than once. Have to restart the Finder to fix the bug.

USB charging completely ****ed on my M2 Air with this beta. It was fine in earlier betas. Have to use MagSafe again.

I'm convinced Apple wants everyone to delete their "legacy" Screensavers and just use their's instead. For the first 3 or so Sonoma Betas, third party Screensavers didn't work at all for some folks (most? all?) and Apple had these fancy new TV Screensavers they wanted everyone to try out. Then third party Screensavers seemed to start working again for folks, but there was still various bugs. Now that we're this much closer to an official release, and there's still things like this happening:

This could be what's been causing a variety of problems on my end. I'm wondering if they're going to move away from using .saver file types and move towards whatever they're using for the TV type. Maybe at some point we could use our own Photos.app videos as Screensavers & Desktop Backgrounds, but still.. I'm very happy with my Blood Red Matrix code Screensaver thank you very much 😆 I'm also wondering if these "legacy" Screensaver .saver files are utilizing Rosetta to run? That would be a big bummer, forcing everyone to stop using the Screensaver of their choice in lieu of their own. At any rate, Force Quitting in Activity Monitor "fixes" it.

---EDIT---
....And then here's today's "Legacy" Screensaver again causing issues

My Desktop wallpaper keeps reverting to Sonoma Horizon. This includes the lock sreen screen saver. Driving me batty. I choose Iceland Coast...hot corner to the lock (screen saver_ come back and unlock and there is the Sonoma one again.

I hate this Safari issue... has been happening before too, seems like it's back. :( Basically means I have to use another browser until fixed.

Looks like with the latest beta I can no longer mount DMG images, I'm getting a "Permission denied" error. Rebooting and even creating another user account doesn't help.

Am I the only one with this problem?
Nope, I get the same error, I ended up running the DMG on another Mac via sharing on Monterey, and copy the app over, certainly not a solution, just a work around. I thought PageFinder may/was the culprit, that wasn't it, ran the gamut trying to isolate the problem with zero success. It didn't do that in the last beta, what strange is, it doesn't do to all DMG's, several days older and the run as expected.

I get this Safari "No space left on device" error quite a bit in the latest beta, never have before. Have you guys been hit with this also?

I've been having issues with my external keyboard and mouse unable to wake the Mac from sleep. Only seen it with my keyboard and mouse connected through my studio display. Worked great until I installed Sonoma. Verified with another non-Sonoma Mac and it works as intended.

It may be the bluetooth issue. My mouse intermittently disconnects from my MBP since installing the latest beta. It's annoying.

So if your keyboard and the mouse disconnects it will be useless trying to wake your Mac from sleep.
