Updated my 2015 15-inch MacBook Pro (MacBookPro11,5) to macOS 15.7.5 with OCLP 2.4.1 on an external SSD with no problems (Metallib 24G624).

OpenCore Legacy Patcher patched 4 items as usual: Intel Haswell, AMD Legacy Graphics, Legacy Wireless, and the Facetime HD Camera.

First of all: Thanks so much! All machines updated to 15.7.5.

Hi there, still updating different unsupported Macs, but my wife just told me, that our MBP 9,1 (2012) has started some time ago, what non-metal machines (pre 2012) would do: Selecting text in Word 16.50 or higher would disappear, grey boxes show instead. I would use Word and Powerpoint 16.49 on non-metal computers. Does anyone else have this problem?
Works again after updating to 15.7.5 and reapplying root patches.

But now Seafile Client crashes on startup every time (MBP 9,1 only!).

EDIT: Solved.

ChatGPT suggested

codesign --remove-signature /Applications/Seafile\ Client.app
codesign --force --deep --sign - /Applications/Seafile\ Client.app

Because this has to be done on every startup, I'll do that automatically from now on:

nano ~/fix-seafile.sh

then insert:

#!/bin/bash

APP="/Applications/Seafile Client.app"

# kurz warten, bis System komplett oben ist

sleep 10

# Codesign reparieren

/usr/bin/codesign --remove-signature "$APP"

/usr/bin/codesign --force --deep --sign - "$APP"

Save by pressing

  • CTRL + O, Enter
  • CTRL + X

Make executable by
chmod +x ~/fix-seafile.sh

Add to startup items.

Looks like the iMazing profiles that formerly suppressed Tahoe in Software Update and Dock notifications stopped working with 15.7.5. Unless there's a fix, I'll switch to the Sequoia beta channel in Software Update.

Does anyone remember Radeongate? I would like to upgrade my Early 2011 Macbook8,3 -running with SSDs - using Opencore Legacy patcher. BUT - It got the EFI - Flash that was around 2013 when all the Radeon 6770 GPUs failed. AFAIR, I also had to cut the power supply to the Radeon 6770M by desoldering a resistor before applying the EFI Flash. Anyway, is the EFI Overwritten by Opencore? Because I want to keep partitions with the older 32 bit OS, like Snow Leopard and Mountain Lion. Those rely on the EFI-Patch/Flash... BTW I am runnig Opencore/Sequoia on a 2017 Imac together with Sierra and Mojave, so I have a tad of experience...

This is probably similar to using the iMazing setup but apparently a cloned version gets updates https://github.com/travisvn/stop-tahoe-update - except that it's script includes deferral of minor and other updates for 30 days.

To permanently eliminate the incessant Tahoe nagging, install the Tanoe script by Dr.Donk, an r/OCLP member:

it blocks the Apple update server in etc/hosts file and is easily reversible

(also, while leaving it active, one can update Sequoia via CLI in any case)

Works great and is highly recommended!

Software update should work, it will download the full (large) install due to being patched previoully. After the update you must re-apply the Post-install Root Patch (it should prompt you automatically).

I have the same machine. And if it's like mine it will not work great on Sequoia, the video driver is very buggy, specially when using an external monitor.

Do you see video glitches (artifacts)? Like on these images.

Mine never worked correctly after the 15.4 update. I had to return to Sonoma, it's very fast and stable on Sonoma.

iMac 13,1 from 2012 here with SAME graphical glitches. I tried to install all beta updates, OCLP 2.5.0n - but no success. is there ANY solution to this?
Problems get bigger if I use Bambustudio or AI software.

Try an earlier version of OCLP ? I know I had this on my mid 2014 when using a newer version was released (was discussed on discord) I wonder if it’s still the same issue on iMac (no guarantees could try it on a test install)

@TOM1211 which version did you use? I had the 2.4.1 and maybe an earlier version before, it was the same experience. On my MacBookPro 2015 with an Intel IRIS I do not have any artifacts.
Some Reddit users suggesting to downgrade to Sequoia before 15.4 . . .

MBP11,1 (13", 2013): updated to 15.7.5 from USB installer with OCLP 2.4.1. Very smooth, thank you developers!

Reliable running. The machine got a rather new battery (25 cycles) and is upgraded to a 480GB internal SSD. I use it during some outdoor traveling where it is not always well protected. - The main working machine however is a MBA16,13 (15", 2025, M4, Tahoe) which is more convenient for speed, screen size, power consumption reasons.

I've installed 15.3.2, and confirm it works without graphical artifacts.

In the end I decided to return to Sonoma, at least until it reaches EOL. Works perfetly and fast for such an old Mac.

My wife iMac 4k 2015 also works perfectly with 15.7.5.

Given the current status of OCLP development I think Sonoma will be last OS for mine 2012 Macbook.

It still works here. You have to remove and add it every 3 months though. And when you make it set a date of expiry far into the future.

I just installed 15.7.5 on my mid-2012 MBP. Everything seems to be running as expected.

That said, I think Linux Mint will be the last OS for that machine. I do have another one running Catalina that I use for running old virtual machines. That will be its final use.

Do you use an external monitor? If so do you sees any video artifacts like these? It happens when using graphical intense apps.

Ooh. Thank you for bringing this to my attention (and thank you to 'Dr.Donk' for making it!). Now I have a lovely clean notification-free dock on my OCLP Sequoia devices once again. 😊

Yes, I also used it to remove the nagging, since the usual Defer90.mobileconfig script did not work anymore since the update to 15.7.5.

Btw, I did the update on our three iMacs 2011 (21,5" & 27") with K2100m without problems.

Since Tahoe may never work with OCLP and we have maybe 18 months with Sequoia; - and no deferral of notices for Tahoe work since Seq. 15.7.5; it would be very useful if the OCLP App. could be configured to send notifications as to when a public update of Sonoma or Sequoia is available - and has been confirmed as compatible with the current OCLP app. for patching.

This is for those of us who don't spend a lot of time on this sort of site to maybe pick up some reference to an update - and of course can't see it via the Badge on the System Prefs/Settings icon as it either shows Tahoe or some Beta or RC update for Seq. or Son or for only other updates.

It would be handy if anyone who agrees and knows of someone (or knows someone who knows someone etc) to pass this on to one of the relevant developers; it seems an obvious work - around to provide timely advice of relevant updates.

As previously described earlier in this thread by @BGS , there is already another solution:
