Apple seems to have lost its creativity with the new wallpaper and visuals for the 27 family - this looks just like the titanium images from the iPhone 15 Pro launch with the greige and dark indigo. Even the curved shapes look the same. There is nothing very Golden Gate about this look at all for MacOS.

and the (important) complaints begin.... 🙄

EDIT: seriously, i don't mean to be combative. but this is a new OS; surely there are bigger things to worry about? especially as you can painlessly add your own wallpapers...

If you look at the iOS 27 wallpaper, it is a stylized "27" composing the image (a 2 on top of a 7).

The same effect doesn't seem to carry over to the macOS/iPadOS version of the wallpaper, but it is kind of there.

There are included San Francisco bridge wallpapers also.

At first I was "ok" with the default wallpaper, but after using it for a day..I like it. 🙂

If the wallpaper reflects the overall philosophy of this OS, then I can see just using a similar concept as before in creating it, while just updating it a little.

Tested my apps and all work and it seems faster, including macOS looking better. No noticeable issues with the OS so far.

I did not mine L.G., but this tone down a little version is better suited for the Mac.

Look forward to release date. If the final is as good so far as the beta, then this could be one of the best first releases with minimal issues that I can remember.

Design in 2023 was kinda peak though, or close enough. They're now trying to do glassmorphism(Liquid Glass) with neumorphic elements (side and top bars) with skeuomorphic vibes (aqua).... but flat.

To me the Golden Gate wallpaper looks like it came off the set of Golden Girls, maybe an easter egg? It has that 80's/90's color and vibe going on.

Can you let people have their own opinions? I don't really care about the wallpaper that much either but it's far more annoying to have every thread filled with people whining that people are critiquing something.

Let me say it your way: Surely there are bigger things to worry about than someone complaining about wallpaper. Especially as you can painlessly scroll past a forum thread without even reading it

I miss the professional photos of California landmarks that came with new releases. Even the dynamic desktops. I use custom ones I found online. I suspect Apple found it was cheaper to produce basic graphic wallpapers than hiring professionals to film aerial photographs and videos from helicopters as they once did. Shame as they had some stellar work!

They haven't stopped doing that: right now, I have multiple animated wallpapers of Tahoe (shore with rocks), Sequoia (forest) and Sonoma (hill aerials) on my MacBook. In previous years, these weren't yet added in the first betas of the new OS (with only the graphic ones being newly added); this is likely the same for the Golden Gate beta.

Ah, interesting. I didn't update to Tahoe on my Mac Studio due to the changes and didn't see any mention of new photos and dynamic wallpapers. Sequoia includes only "Helios" abstract patterns and classic Mac wallpapers as did Ventura and Monterey with no photos of California. I wonder why Apple decided to skip photos of California landscapes for Sequoia, Ventura, and Monterey and now Golden Gate.

It's beta, they probably will have some landscapes in the shipping version. Obviously, only time will tell.

Sequoia’s default desktop was a photo of a Sequoia forest. You can see it on this page: https://512pixels.net/projects/default-mac-wallpapers-in-5k/

I expect Golden Gate will add some additional desktop images- early betas typically don’t have them, presumably because the name happens later than the early betas get finished.
Which is a beautiful wallpaper. I’m referring to the dynamic wallpapers that change with the time of day and aerial photos but yes, Apple has used some stunning photography which i hope they continue doing. I’m just not a fan of the abstract graphic wallpapers in recent years.

If I am remembering correctly from past years, the new series of landscape wallpapers and screensavers is usually added in around Beta 5 or 6, if not the RC.
