This may be one of the craziest threads in some time...but I love the creativitiy of the idea and the desire not to let your Mac out of your sight.

The answer, in short is no. You can check it, but not carry it on.

Why?

Box is too big
Box is too heavy to be in overhead.
Never make it through security.

Honestly, just ship it. If you don't want to, you will have to check it.

Just out of interest... are there any ways of safely(definately works at the other end) transporting a MP internationally??

I may one day need to tour(aspiring A/V artist) and have often wondered whether it's just better to organise a same spec machine at the destination, then take any content on FW hard drives.

I definately would never put my machine in the hold of a plane unless I could be absolutely certain it would come out the other end intact (are there any flightcases which can fully protect one?).
