i have to agree that the weakest link here appears to be intel.

I am hopeful that now that IBM has shown progress in chip advances intel feels the heat and cranks out the newer models. Surely most advances in processor speeds were seen when AMD was tailing intel.

filmak nobody knows when there will be a mac pro. Refer to other thread for a very throughout discussion of apple hints at keeping it, updating it, changing it.

you could find a thread in regards to "will there be mac pro 2015" thread and you're find your answers.

Thank you very much both of you.
I have been watching all the other threads about the mac pro's possible upgrade for a long time...

I was very impressed by the certainty of pat500000's comment (and the "let's be clear").
I respect the many well documented opinions - prophecies but imho in reality nobody really knows... we 're all just speculating.

I'm sorry if I made it sound ****** on you...and definitely am not. Maybe I should of have been clear..and more elaborated...apparently there are parts available to make the new refresh..and trust me..i really want the next gen machine. However, according to the intel map chart...the next gen intel chip won't/ or more likely not be out till early 2016. Sorry if i didn't be so "clear."

So you're saying no Mac Pros beyond the current one? No way Apple tooled up to build the nMP just to abandon it after one gen, not a chance.
I didn't say it was going to be abandoned...just won't be upgrade for awhile...(which I probably say that earlier))

Actually your earlier post DID sound like you meant there would be NO MORE Mac Pro updates beyond the current model. I'm glad you clarified your position. Thanks.

Thank you very much for your friendly and kind reply. Everything is/was OK and "clear"...:)

Yes, there are many upgraded parts available right now to upgrade the nMP...
and I completely agree with you, there is a good possibility for a new MP, as you say, in early 2016.

Anyway, I still think that most of time, especially in the case of Mac Pro's upgrading route, Apple is simply unpredictable ...:(

Awhile back the consensus seemed to point to DP 1.3 holding up a refresh. Apple most likely has a 5K display lined up but they are waiting for the tech to catch up so a single DP 1.3 cable can power a 5K display. Also now that Thunderbolt is moving to USB-C format that also could play into it?

Unfortunately TB3 is not DP1.3 compliant - it is DP1.2 ... again 2 cables will be needed.

Well that's disappointing to say the least. Also that makes the lack of a refresh even more confusing because I thought they were waiting for DP 1.3 with TB3.

This is one of those things that seems to bend people's brains:
It seems contradictory but not worth rehashing why it's not here. Short answer, it's fully possible that a future computer with a USB Type C port will let you plug in either a TB3 device or a single cable DP 1.3 5K monitor. Nothing in the specs as announced so far precludes that.

Hello friends,
sorry to bother you with a question that is not that sexy - but I wonder if there will be a new MacPro 2015 or not this or maybe never ever. I have a mid 2010 12 core MacPro 2,66 with 64Ram and dream of the new one because of it´s Thunderbolt possibilities - especially for making music with huge Sample libraries and plan to edit 4K video from next year on. But the present MacPro processor speed bothers me a bit because my 2010 with 2,66 is a bit slow for streaming too - even with SSDs. And I hate the idea to get a PC.
But when will come the new MacPro and: will there be an update?
Sorry if this qustions was asked before...
Best Alfred

Wow--I'd be happy with a Mac Pro like that!
