Hi there,

Does anyone know any other forum that has users with iPhones, unbiased, quality posts, and overall better than macrumors ? This is filled with people with other brands mocking apple users with their posts, especially about the whole bendgate. I mean there are posts stating that the i6 is pointless when compared to android phones and only rich people buy it and crap that is rarely interesting.

Don't mind a PM if you'd rather keep it on the low to avoid trolls from filling up there as well.

Sorry to hear you are having a bad time :(

There aren't any other iPhone forums the size and quality of this one.

The key is to not let stupid posts/threads get to you (easier said than done I know) and to look at the humor of things more. No matter what forum you go to you will find the internet is full of trolls. You've just gotta be the one that takes charge to ignore them.

First off, you are posting in the wrong part of the forums, so this thread is off topic.

Second, I have ben a member here for over a year and never had a problem.

Third, if it really pains you that much, why did you even bother signing up?

And lastly, these sorts of posts really get on my nerves, please if you want to vent your anger, at least do it in the right sub forum.

See OP? this is simply a test right here ^. Refer to my post at #2 regarding ignoring above snarky response :)

From experience, you will deal with these issues in any forum. Good luck finding that perfect forum. If you do, please let me know.

I'm going to side with the OP on this one.

On all other forums I've been a part of since the dawn of Al Gore's internet, there have been about 5-10% trolls, smart asses, know-it-alls, rude, etc and about 90% helpful, friendly, welcoming, genuine people... people who I'd like to meet in real life and have a beer.

Something about Macrumors forums that make it 50%/50% of the above, which is the worst ratio of any forum I've ever seen. Maybe it's the Apple brand itself that brings out the entitled twits... who knows.

In any case, OP, I'll keep my eyes out and let you know.

As a no frequent poster, I'd have to agree. I quickly reach my limit of just how much I can take here. I've been an Apple/Mac user since 1991 and have been a part of several mac comminuted over the years. This place by far displays both the best and worst of an online community. Especially in the iPhone sub forum, the worst often seems to overshadow the best.

You are asking about alternatives to people who post in this very forum.
What kind of responses do you exactly expect?
If you don't like bendgate threads, why do you open them? Why do you read them? Why do you create a thread complaining about them?

I come here to either get information on the iDevices "How to" or entertainment. This is where I stay in the "know" with all of the Apple stuff. I believe in order for you to have serious discussions W/O distractors, you may need to start a private thread but you'll have to invite...

I'm guessing that the OP figured that perhaps some people here have other online communities they like. Not an entirely unreasonable proposition. Like most other threads here, he's probably hoping that out of the flowing river of crap that will show up in this thread, he'll be able to pan out a nugget or two of useful ideas.

I would mostly expect unfriendly comments, since you are facing the same people that you are bashing.
It is like opening a thread in the iPhone section with the title "iPhone sucks".
Only that this is worse, because you are facing the entire community.

Nothing Google can't help by the way.

I ran through some of your posts but then I ran through your topics that you started. You registered on September 11, 2014, which means you have given it less than a month. You registered just after the newest iPhone was announced, which also means you registered at a time when new members flock to these forums (like you) and the forums themselves are generally busier.

On September 24th you started a thread about the forum being unhealthy. You waited just under 2 full weeks before you started showing your discontent. Following that thread, you started a couple more, this one included. Within many of those threads people have offered advice, much of it can be summed up as follows:

  • A new iPhone release heightens traffic and increases the amount of duplicative threads, you can report them if you wish.
  • You can simply not return to this site. MacRumors will not care and they'll be okay. FWIW, they would not care if I left either. This is a business, not someone who is going to give me hugs when I am hurting.
  • You can search threads within sub forums if you're looking for something specific.
  • You can turn off certain sub forums in Forum Spy to avoid seeing the threads scroll by.
  • You can simply not click on threads that have titles that will likely annoy you.
  • You can learn to live with it.

Since being handed such advice and likely more, you have chosen to ignore everything and continue starting threads. At this point I'll speak for many, which I rarely do, and say that we get it. You don't like it here. This forum is a place where you can think your iPhone has a problem before it even leaves China. If you aren't mature enough to just make decisions and leave judgement for when you have a device, you can most certainly be swayed by this forum to the point where you have buyer's remorse before your order is even ready for shipment. It is entirely up to you how you view this forum and most importantly, what you take from it. One thing is for sure, insulting people is not going to garner you any sympathy. At the very least try to express your discontent without being so dang insulting to members.

To date, you have contributed absolutely nothing to this website. Thankfully, there are those who do and your lack of contribution isn't missed. But in life, and this applies on and offline, you get what you give. If you stand around bitching and moaning about how bad a forum is then you have no one else to blame but yourself because you can log off and never return or you can be part of the solution. Help others. Don't start threads about unnecessary worry about your order still in processing. Don't start multiple threads about your discontent for the website as a whole. Post threads that lead to discussion such as this one you created: "Why aluminum isn't the cause of the bending reports - Interesting read".

It is acceptable to be dissatisfied with a website. I assure you, I've been here long enough and people who were actual friends who I have met from this site have moved on in many ways. This site has changed and in some ways for the worse, but it grew. Once Apple wasn't just in the PC business the site began to grow and grow. It will happen and again, MacRumors is an organization. It generates income and it is treated as a business. MacRumors isn't about high fives and hugs, it is about money and membership. It is here to provide what it believes is a resource for all things Apple. In many ways it does a good job. If you can move on from the basic BS that does occur then you'll be fine. I am no saint around here a lot of the time but at the very least, I will try to help if I can and if someone online doesn't like me, which the list is long and distinguished I am sure, then so be it. I know who I am both on and offline. I'm pretty okay with things.

In the end though, if you take nothing from my long ramble take this...you get what you give buddy. No one is going to force you to be here but I would hope that you choose to stop creating topics like this and simply contribute to one of the many you've already created showing your extreme discontent for a site you've been a member of for less than 4 weeks.

To answer your question, Apple Discussions is an alternative to MacRumors. Go try that out.

I will.

Looks like you joined here this month and found out its not for you..... Why not just move on?

Based on experience, some people refer to multiple forums. I'm hoping this is the case here.

imore.com is alright, not as many users as here maybe.

Thanks I'll check it out.

I didn't expect friendly comments, but I really don't care as this is the internet and bashing me doesn't really hurt me. Thank you for posting the sites, I will check them out.

For the others, I've been lurking for more than a year before subscribing. I saw the need to start posting to reflect the newest iPhone release and share my excitement. This forum has been both friendly and hostile, but the ratio isn't healthy. And only when I started posting did I notice how bad the quality is, because I follow up with comments and other threads. While when lurking, I used to look for specific info I need then leave, so I didn't really experience interacting with people here.

OP. I'm sorry to say but this is the internet, and the internet is like this.

I personally find MacRumors to be one of the more nicer Apple forums with a good balance of opinions. Fanboyism and hatred will be with you on the internet no matter where you go. People behind a keyboard tend to forget that their opinions are subjective to themselves and are not facts.

The best tactic, ignore them. Not unless you wish to prove a point, a point they probably won't see if they're really into their own opinion.

I know and fully agree with you. But is it hard to find a forum where everyone makes intelligent discussions ?

Whenever I open this forum here are numerous fanboy/fearmongering/trolling posts that just puts the forum's quality down.

FWIW, you are part of the problem. Your posts that express your discontent have also included insults. If you don't want to read the wall of text above then fine but be the better person. I would never have the audacity to bitch about a forum being unfriendly while I insult most of the member base. So be the better person. Really.

Exactly. Rise above it.
  • Let fires burn out on their own.
  • If you must fight fire, fight it with water (not more fire).
  • If the water becomes troubled, pour oil on it (just make sure the fire is completely out first, okay? :))
All of that requires restraint and develops character. Useful life skills outside of MR.

Okay, I'm back off to the mountains to meditate.
