LOL Welcome Rod Rod! I missed the early G5 debates, (2001 and so on...) but I have to think that the G5 powerbook debate has to come in as a close second in terms of passion. :)

Thanks Stelliform! I'm not sure if newbies can start threads, and this was probably already done, but I was thinking we could have one with pictures of our desktop / laptop / hybrid setups. It would be nice to see how creative or spartan people are with their work / fun spaces.

Oh, well..........

Don't laugh to much.

OK Rower...you used to live in Hilo and now you live in San Diego....any chance you moved from SD to SF to Hilo and back to SD? If so, skip the move to Visalia after moving back to Hilo shortly and just get to the good part (WA), it's much nicer here than Visalia.

Actually, my route is more like:
NorCal (Humboldt Co.), HI, NorCal (Humboldt Co.), HI, NorCal (Siskiyou Co.), SD

So pretty close, but not quite. :)

lol, maybe I shouldn't post my picture here anymore. Funny I didn't get as many replies when I posted a picture of my pets. :)

Wow, this whole this was overblown.

Give me a break.

nobody knows me here yet, but I figured I'd sort of introduce myself this way instead of the usual discussion board method, which would be getting in some kind of argument about G5 powerbook engineering.

some video stuff I did (I'm in the "News Package" one) is on http://homepage.mac.com/tvwriter

Hello and welcome!

:)

Sure, why not...

Ok, here's mine. Excuse the photo quality (I just took it with my Zire 71) and the hair (I had a hat on all day).

They are plain ol' brown. There must be some weird lighting in here.
no, it's probably just my crappy eyes (which are kinda hazel/greenish, coincidentally)... never say "plain ol'" with brown though. all my favorite eyes (more to the point, the eyes of the girls i've liked) have been brown. it's a great eye color.

i guess i might as well post a more recent pic of myself. this one is less than an hour old, actually.

having a new digital camera really ups the ante on that "what the hell, why not?" factor.

I keep forgetting the community discussion exists. Seeing as everyone else is doing it, I don't want to feel left out :)

Here's me.

james2003.jpg

Taken about a week or so ago. Most people think I look about 16, but I'm actually 24! It sometimes works in my favour.

amazing....

What I find truly amazing is that this thread keeps growing. I know there has been photo threads before, but nothing like this one. It seems everyone is in good spirits about revealing what they look like on the other end of the screen.

It's nice to put a face to a name.

you know, it might be cool to have like a directory of photos of users in the form of a thread. kind of like this, but in a much more succinct manner--i.e., with no commentary, just a name with a picture.

it'd be nice to have a mod (or i could do it, if no one else wants to) make a sticky thread and make individual posts of each user in succession... we could call it the macrumors image directory or something

i mean, it is great to have this thread, but it's somewhat clumsy to go through 16 pages when if could be cut down to 3-4 in terms of the actual number of people who have shared their pictures.

a practical idea, or just bad?
